"so, what'd she say?" nini asked clearing her throat, trying not to cry.

"she just said that we haven't talked in a while, which is true" he said still looking down.

"well then what's the problem?" she asked quietly.

"for like all three and a half years i've been in chicago i've tried to reach out to her, i've tried to even at least have lunch with the lady but nothing. she ignores me. and it- it feels like she doesn't want me. like she regrets ever being with my dad, and staying with us for as long as she did and it sucks." he said tears falling silently from his eyes. he couldn't control nor prevent them from falling. so he just let them slip.

"i promise you even though she absolutely sucks at showing it, she loves you. you're ricky bowen. you're the most lovable person i know." nini said looking at his tear stained face. some of her own falling.

"you're literally the best thing ever, i hope you know that" he said finally smiling.

she blushed, "shut up".

"what should i say?"

"you could just ignore her, or you could tell her how you feel" the brunette suggested.

"i'll go with the first one, for now at least" nini nods along.

"im always here if you need me" she smiled.

he felt his body get all fuzzy, she always does that.

he hugged her and sighed.

"now, let's play uno" he said letting her go.

"yayyy"

they played a few rounds and did nothing but complete nonsense the rest of the day.

ricky promised to be over at 10 sharp. he needed to help his dad with a something so he'd be a bit later today.

nini heard a knock on the door.

she ran to check who it was.

of course opening it when she saw his curls.

"come innnn" she said opening the door.

he set his skate board down and slipped off his shoes.

"so what time are gina and ej getting here?"

he asked plopping onto the couch.

nini sat next to him, "hmm i think at like 10:30?"

"that's soooon"

"it is" she laughed.

"why are you laughing?" he asked in a baby voice with his head on her shoulder.

"cause you're a dork" she giggled.

"an adorable dork"

"ah yes, my adorable dork" she sighed.

he smiled. 'her adorable dork'. he liked the sound of that.

they heard a loud knock, that knocked them out of their conversation (get it?).

"that must be ej's annoying behind" ricky rolled his eyes, making nini giggle.

"i'll get it" ricky patted her head and got up to open the door.
