"i've got to go now, neens" he said quietly into her shoulder.

"not yet" she had her eyes shut tightly, not wanting to let her tears slip.

"i have to go neens" he laughed softly.

"it's not fair" she whispered. she got to stay a few extra days meanwhile he had to leave a bit early.

"i know, we'll call everyday though." he reassured her.

he wiped her tears and she nodded bringing him into a hug again; sobbing harder into his shoulder. allowing herself to break down.

it broke his heart, hearing her cry like this. last time this happened it was the summer before their freshman year of college.

they called his flight; the final call.

"that's my last chance to get out of here. just remember that i love you, darling. and we'll be ok" he hugged her tight and then kissed her one last time.

he kissed her forehead, "i love you, ricky".

"me too" smiled with tears in his eyes.

and with that he walked away leaving his heartbroken girlfriend, his own heart slowly breaking too.

"so you're home safe?" she asked, again.

"yes neens, i'm safe" he laughed at her asking the same question.

"i just want to be super sure" she breathes out.

"well, i'm fine" he reassured her for the second time.

she smiled at him lovingly.

"i have to go now but i love you, and i'll see you so soon"

"love you too" she smiled brightly.

"bye darling!" and with that he blew her a kiss.

yeah, they were gonna be ok.
