nini woke up to feel soft fabric against her cheek. she had her hair all over her confused face.

she laid face up with a sleepy, still confused, expression.

she felt someone rub her hairline. she looked to her right and saw the curly haired boy.

"what happened?" she said as her eyes slowly opened.

"about two hours ago; i woke up and you were still asleep against the window. and then i thought of what my mom always said when i was young, and i moved you onto my lap" he said with a smile.

"what was it that she said?" nini asked her eyes adjusting to the light.

"not to sit to close to the door incase there's an accident"

"ah, smart" she laughed, making him smile.

"very" he said in a playful tone.

"are we almost there?"

"uh kinda? we stopped at a gas station..gina needed to use the bathroom and ej wanted food" he said as he continued rubbing his thumb against her hair.

she smiled at him.

"as much as i want to go to sleep..i think im good for now" she said sitting up.

he nodded, "you hungry?"

"nope.....OH!" she hit his leg excitedly.

"ouch!" he said giving her a face.

"don't be a wimp, i'll read you a poem" she said with an excited smile.

"sounds good"

she grabbed her book and flipped through the pages a bit.

"this is 'a diamond ring' by alexandra vasiliu-"

"isn't that your favorite poet even though she's the only one you've heard of?" he said waving his hand around.

she said almost those exact words around the same time as now, last year..he remembered.

she nodded with rosy cheeks.

she clears her throat and began, "i will always remember the moment when you promised me, "for you, i will hunt down the moon. i will catch it and offer it to you as a diamond on your ring finger." i will always remember the moment when i believed you with all my heart. some moments are so beautiful they they don't seem real, yet they are completely ours" she smiled as she set down the small book.

"that was-" he struggled to find the words.

"beautiful" she finished his though.

he shook his head agreeing.

"you'll have to lend me that book"

"will do" she said messing with his hair, which made him scrunch his nose.

"she's awake!" gina said as her and ej got in the car.

nini laughed throwing her head back.

ricky couldn't control the now almost foreign feeling in his stomach.

soon enough they made it to the hotel they'd be staying at. it was around 2pm.

"rickyyyy can u you carry my bag?" she said complaining.
