"the fair?!" nini and ricky said at the same time.

"yep, we thought it'd be super fun, you know with all the christmasy vibes" gina said turning her head.

"it's like the beginning of december we're so far away—" ricky got cut off though.

"bowen, you act as if christmas doesn't start november first" ej shook his head.

they all left the car leaving him there with a confused face.

"hey! wait up though!" he ran after them.

"gina and i are gonna go pay for the tickets you guys can stay here" ej said taking gina's hand.

nini nodded and took ricky's hand leading him to a bench.

"ok, so, aren't you totally excited right now? i mean it's perfect timing! you can get your mind off your mom and i get to enjoy seeing you happy" she giggled as she sat them down on the bench.

ricky shook his head with a smile but no response.

"what?" she laughed.

"you enjoy seeing me happy?" he asked.

her cheeks turned a light shade of pink when she realized she'd said that part out loud.

"well, yeah. of course. you're my best friend. and i don't like seeing people i care about upset. and you're kind of an important person in my life so yes, i very much do enjoy seeing my best friend, richard bowen, aka you, happy" she finished looking to him.

his reaction was absolutely priceless. he almost looked like he was going to cry despite it only being a few words. but they had barely talked nor seen each other in a year so it totally meant everything to him in the moment.

"aww richard, don't cry. you're gonna make me wanna cry" she laughed at her own glossy eyes.

she pulled him into a hug and he rested his head on her shoulder.

"i missed you so much" he whispered quietly.

"me too" she said smiling to herself.

"now, no more sappy sad stuff. this is going to be a fun day!"

he laughed and admired her features as she looked around the fair.

"enough staring at your soulmate thing we got the tickets let's gooo!" ej yelled knocking them out of their staring fest.

nini rolled her eyes and ricky stayed silent taking her hand in his.

"so what're we doin?" ricky asked putting his arm around nini's shoulder.

"if you want i can get food" ej offered.

"ooo yes please! i'll take a pretzel" nini said setting her arms around ricky's torso, hugging him slightly.

ricky kissed her forehead, "i'll take a water".

"who gets water at the fair-?" gina laughed at his strange request.

"my adorable dork" nini whispered to him and he blushed.

"what did she say?" ej teased.

"nothing" he said quickly.

"awww" gine cooed, "i'll have cotton candy".

"sounds good" and with that, ej was off to get them food. (ej's a real one☝️)
