Arny

MOST DANGEROUS PRISONER

MIDNIGHT MEADOW PHYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL

For months, darkness had been my only company in solitary confinement. Once you're put it here, you're never getting out.

After my dramatic entrance four years ago, I got into a slight disagreement with the head nurse of this establishment. And me being me, well, it just ended with a lot of violence, a few people murdered, and me. Stuck here in this hole. Alone.

The law states that I am allowed one hour a day of outside time to keep me sane, so naturally, they give me thirty minutes. Thirty minutes of pacing up and down a small patch of grass, with no human interaction and nothing keeping me occupied apart from my own thoughts.

Normally, I'm kept away from all the other prisoners; mostly for their safety. I eat, sleep and live in this cell. I get one interaction with the other "patients" once a week for "golden time"; of which I'm allowed only 20 minutes, and that's with good behaviour. I'm not allowed near any of the arts and crafts, nor anywhere near the windows. If I want to play a game or talk to another person for even a few seconds, I have to be supervised, "just in case."

It wasn't that bad in my cell, you get used to the cold temperature and the damp smell. Besides, you're left alone a lot of the time, I didn't have to participate in group therapy or any trivial ways of helping us "get better, for the sake of our society." It was quite peaceful.

The beds aren't comfy, or soft, like the ones upstairs. The mattresses are hard and lumpy. On top of that, the blankets are slightly itchy. The bedsheets were only changed twice a month, and they'd rarely replace the blankets. But, despite all the poor hygiene, I would choose a slight discomfort over the grimy floor, which was always slightly damp and smelt horrible. I had to bribe a nurse with good behaviour and my meals for a week in order for them to sneak me a pair of grippy socks. It would've been slippers, except the nurse didn't trust me enough to steal them for me.

Just as always, the ceiling was the most interesting thing in the room. I stared at it intensely, thinking to myself. But the sounds of high-pitched shrieking coming from outside were enough to pull me from them.

The metal door was swung open viciously, creating a lot of noise as it hit the brick wall. A small body was thrown onto the floor; it didn't stay down for very long, getting up almost as quickly as it was thrown down.

It was a female. Her dress was covered in blood, making her look like a demon that had just risen from hell. Her tanned skin looked healthy and spotless and the light hit her; it won't stay like that in here though. Her hair was long and black, it perfectly straight. Even though her body was small, her voice was not.

"Hey, you great, oversized lump. Let me out, asshole." Her voice screamed, echoing off the walls.

When she got no reply, she became aggressive. Violently punching and kicking the door, the loud banging overpowered her voice. She carried on like this for a while, until the little slot in the door opened, the light from the corridor coming in slightly.

"Miss Reine, I'm going to have to ask you to calm down." The guard ordered, his eyes were the only thing in view.

"Oh, really?" I could hear the smugness in her voice as she said this, and before I knew it, she bought her hand towards the guard's face and jabbed both of his eyes, then, reaching her arm through the slot, she punched him in the face; breaking his nose.
