Osiris Idona Reine

NEWEST PATIENT

SOLITARY CONFINEMENT

Arny was asleep on the other side of the room, somehow, he looked more dangerous whilst he slept; an angry look plastered on his unconscious face. But he was no threat to me. He was asleep, whilst I was awake, a clear sign of vulnerability. He slept on his side, facing the wall; one of the easiest positions to be murdered in, the easiest being on your back. The black blanket wasn't touching his skin as he slept, it was probably for the best, it was rather itchy. His white t-shirt and shorts contrasted his tattooed skin, he looked almost angelic. If it wasn't for the fact he was a mass murderer, he could've been.

The room itself was pretty cold. The bricks didn't provide much insulation and these blankets we'd been given didn't help either. I knew we were deep under the hospital, a basement perhaps, but how far down we were I couldn't say. This place was far away from anybody, it was far away from the light outside. I looked over to the sleeping man once again, finding small comfort in him being here.

Wouldn't it be better if he wasn't breathing?

The voices were whispering to me, suggesting all kinds of nasty things to me. The banging of the large metal door against the brick was enough to draw me from my thoughts, silencing the voices. The light from the corridor was blinding, two men stepped into the room. I recognised them immediately, the male nurse who saw me murder his colleagues and the other, was the guard who carried me here.

I looked at Arny, the loud noise didn't affect him. The soft, sleeping expression on his face, deteriorated becoming harder snd more aggressive. It was almost as if his dreams were becoming more intense due to the noise.

"Miss Reine," I ripped my eyes from Arny, "please follow us."

Without a word, I got up from my position on the bed and made my way over to the two men. As I got to the other side of the room, I was greeted by a pair of handcuffs. I was forced to turn around, so the handcuffs could be placed on my wrists, securing my hands behind my back. As I turned back around to face the two men, I noticed that the guard had a bandage over his nose and a pair of safety glasses. I smiled to myself as I took in his new appearance.

"Cute glasses, Hulk. Did your mother get them for you?" I mocked, before being led away from him.

We walked up several flights of stairs, through many corridors. The temperature was rising slowly as we made our way through the building. The screams of patients varied in sound as we made our way through the wards. It occurred to me that there was some dodgy treatments going on in this hospital.

We stopped at a large, black, polished door. The name "Dr. W. Papa. M.D" was written on it, engraved into the black material in gold. The nurse knocked on the door three times before stepping back towards me, placing his hand on my lower back. There was a small delay in the nurse knocking and the doctor answering. After a moment or two, the door swung open, revealing a tall, brunette man. The doctor was at least a foot or so taller than me, his long legs accentuated by his black dress trousers. His face was stern as he opened the door to greet us but softened as soon as he saw us standing there.

"Osiris, hello. Please come in." He said, opening the door wide, letting me in. The doctor then turned to the two men that accompanied me here, "you two can wait outside."
