Chapter 12

Nora, Luna and Finn leave going to have showers. Just me and Logan. This is the perfect time to ask him about Luna. There's only one other girl in the room and she's just putting some stuff in her box and I don't think she's listening. I think she's the girl who's brother fell of the train.

"So, Logan. " I start awkwardly. "How'd you go with just the girls. "

"Good. " He says simply.

"Do you like them?" I ask.

"Well duh! Why else would I be friends with them?" He says.

"No like more than friends like. " I say sitting next to him on his bunk.

"Well. " he says scratching the back of his neck. this is one good thing about having a twin. We find it fairly easy to tell each other secrets and it avoids awkwardness.

"I knew it!" I say. "Which one?" I ask eagerly.

"Mmnm" he mumbles.

"Pardon?" I ask.

"Luna. " he says quietly.

"Aww. " I say happily and he blushes.

"Don't tell her!" He says.

"I think she likes you too. " I say.

"No she doesn't. " he says not looking at me.

"How would you know?" I say.

"Can we stop talking about this!" He says. "It's weird. "

"You should ask her out. " I say ignoring him.

"Whatever. " he says looking down.

There's an awkward silence for a while.

"So you really think she likes me?" He asks.

I laugh. "Yeah I do. "

"Maybe I will ask her out. "

"Luna and Logan siting in a tree. " I sing like a little kid until he covers my mouth.

"What about you and Finn?"be asks changing the subject. Damn I didn't think people would notice. I've gotta play this right.

I screw up my nose. "Me and Finn? What gave you that idea. "

"Come on like you haven't noticed. " he says.

"Noticed what?" I ask as innocently as possible.

"Every time your around him he gets all nervous and shy. Your killing the guy Ethie!" He says.

"Oh. " is all I can manage. "I'm going to bed it been a long day." I say yawning.

"Okay, night Ethie. " he says kissing the top of my head.

"Good night. " I say giving him a hug and hopping into bed. I feel a knot in my stomach, the kind you get before you throw up, every time I think about Dauntless and how I don't belong here. I should've stayed now I'm a coward. I fall asleep drowning in all my thoughts.

My father is coming through the lounge, he walks over to me and yells at me, I don't hear what he's saying but I feel the sting on my cheek. He hits me again, and again until I start screaming.

"Ow. " I say as I jump up from my bed and hit my head on Logan's bunk above me.

I hear quiet laughter for across me. Maybe I imagined it.

"You okay?" Finn asks.

"Yeah. " I say but it sounds quiet and shaken.

"You want to talk about it?" He asks.

"Not yet. " I say. I'm not ready to tell him everything.

"Come here. " he gestures for me to come sit on his bed. I go to sit in the end but he opens the blanket for me to sit next to him.

"How come your awake?" I ask.

"I've never been a very good sleeper. " he says. "you?"

"Nightmares. I've had them since I was little. You know like the reoccurring ones?"

"Yeah. ". He says. " I used to have the same dream every night when I was younger, I'd be in bed and then it would start raining in my room and then I'd wake up. "

"That's strange. " I say.

We're both silent for ages and I'm worried he's going to fall asleep and ill be alone.

"What's your favorite color?" I ask.

"What?" He asks laughing.

"We might as well get to know each other, I don't think I'm going to fall back asleep for a while. " I say.

"Okay. " he says.

"What's your favorite color?" I repeat.

"Green. "
