Ethie's Story -A Divergent Fanfic

Chapter 9

We start walking back to our room and I try to think of a way to start a conversation. I remember that Logan didnt answer when someone asked him why he chose Dauntless. Why did he choose Dauntless? Maybe he didn't want to say yet. I'll ask him later.

"Are you guys nervous about initiation?" I ask.

"Yes!" Luna says enthusiastically.

"Yeah. " Nora agrees.

"Me too. " Finn adds.

"I am. " Logan admits.

"What about you?" Finn asks.

"I think I'm going to pee myself tomorrow!" I say and everyone laughs.

When we arrive back to our rooms I fold my clothes and put them in my draw thing. It takes my a while but while I'm doing it I notice that Luna and Nora are folding there's but the boys just chucked them in.

"Logan!" I laugh. "Fold your clothes!"

"Yes mum. " he grumbles and we all laugh.

"You too Finn! Your going to look like a crumpled piece of paper if you shove them like that. " I say still laughing.

"I don't really know how to fold them. " he admits quietly.

I slide off my bed and sit next to him.

"I'll do them. " I say.

"Thankyou. " he says as I start fold his black clothes.

"You don't have to answer this if you don't want to," he starts. Uh oh, what's is he goon to ask? Does he know I'm Divergent? My thoughts are interrupted wen he continues.

"Why do people call you crazy?" He asks quietly.

"Umm. " I mumble unsure of what to say.

"You don't have to tell me, it's okay. " Finn says.

"No, no it's alright. " I tell him.

"Well, when I was young, something happened to me, it hurt me. I broke down. I've never really been normal because of that. " I say. "So they teased me because I was different. "

"They're all idiots. " he says putting his arm comfortingly on my shoulders and rubbing it.

"All done!" I say in a sing song voice,glad to change the subject because of the awkwardness.

"Thank you so much!" He says graciously smiling at me. I smile back, he looks different when he smiles, a good different.

"No problem. " I say never looking away from his beautiful blue eyes.

"Ethie!" Logan calls from his bunk. "I don't know how to fold this!"

"Ugh. " I groan. "You boys are useless!" Everyone laughs.

I climb up and fold it for him.

"How are you finding Dauntless?" I ask.

"It's great! Everything I hoped it would be!"

"So, did you get Dauntless on your aptitude test?" I ask.

"Yeah. " he says quietly.

I finish folding and start climbing Dow to my bunk.

"Thank you Ethel. " I say laughing because he didn't thank me.

"Thanks. " he says.

"Doesn't count. " I reply. Logan laughs at my silliness.

After dinner I take a shower in the girls shower block and change into a plain tee shirt and slacks. I walk back with Nora, because she came with me, and hop in bed.

This is the first of the many times I will sleep in Dauntless head quarters. So much has happened to me today. I have left my faction and my family, jumped of a moving train, leaped of a tall building, moved to Dauntless, started wearing black clothes, cut my hair and got my ears pieced. I think about my new friends, I really like them all.

I soon fall asleep, overwhelmed by everything.
