When I wake up I am back in the glass room in the reclined chair. I feel so much more confident now, it's like overcoming all of those nerves really helped me too feel brave, stronger and like I'm fearless. Of course, I'm not, the second I have to go home and face my dad I will brake down mentally. But for now I'm staying positive.
The Candor lady walks back in, she looks paler and is fidgeting a bit.
"Ethel," she begins "I don't really know how to say this but there is a problem with your results. "
All of those good feelings and that confidence vanishes. In its place is anxiety.
"I'm sorry I don't understand, how could there be a problem?" I ask sounding a lot calmer than I feel.
"You results are inconclusive. The test put you through different situations and depending on how you react it eliminates certain factions," she explains "But with yours you only managed to eliminate three."
I let this sink in and find myself more and more confused.
"Your joking right?"
"I'm from Candor, I don't lie. " she states.
"So what faction do the results say I belong to?" I ask.
"Your smart thinking suggest Erudite but you bravery points to Dauntless but your kind approach shows you belong in Amity. "
"So I belong in all three? "
"This happens rarely but it is not unheard of. It's called being divergent, this hasn't happened for a very long time in Amity. It is very dangerous so do not tell anyone, anyone! Of this situation. I will change your results to Amity. " she explains.
"Are you feeling alright?" She asks me looking slightly worried.
"Fine thanks" I lie. No wonder Candor wasn't an option for me.
I get up and make my way outside. I see Logan sitting in a circle talking to some other people.
"Hey" I say
"Ethie! How'd it go?" He asks turning around and looking at me.
"I was so nervous!" I exclaim.
He opens his mouth to speak but a man from another room calls his name.
"Wish me luck. " he says quietly and I can tell he's nervous.
I sit down with Jamie, Daisy and Phoebe.
"Hey Ethel Rose" Daisy says. Daisy has blonde hair and green eyes. She seems quite shy. Shy people are not very common in Amity, everyone is kind to each other so not many people are afraid of talking to others. I love the people here, I value peace like all of them.
"Hello" I say to all of them. Before we start singing the woman who did my testing pokes her head out of the door.
"Jamie Perkins!" She calls.
Jaime's face turns pale as she steps up and makes her way over to the room.
I zone out for the rest of the time and wait with Logan for the bus.
"Ethie!" He says and claps his hands in my face.
"Sorry" I mumble as I snap back to reality.
We board the bus and stay silent for the remainder of the trip.
When I arrive home I find my mum in the kitchen rolling out some dough.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
"We're going to have pizza for dinner" se says with out looking at me or making any signs of affection. This means that dad is home.
