Ethie's Story -A Divergent Fanfic

Chapter 13

We talk for hours, he tells me about home and how he misses his little sisters, Katrina and Molly. It feels like its about six in the morning but its hard to say. Finn is looking tired and starts drifting off. I'm quite tired myself so I crawl into my own bed, leaving the warmth of Finn behind and falling into a dreamless sleep.

"Wake up snoozy!" Logan whisper yells in my ear.

I poke his face.

"What are you doing Ethie?" He asks.

"Trying to find the snooze button. " I say.

He laughs and I get up.

"Morning Ethel. " Finn says while he's making his bed.

"Good morning. " I yawn. "Where's Luna and Nora?" I ask.

"I think they went to have shower. " he says.

I make my bed, get dressed and brush my hair. I still have a while until I have to go to training.

I climb up onto Logan's bed.

"Are you going to ask her out?" I whisper.

"I don't know. " he whispers back.

"What's all the whispering about?" Finn says from below.

"Nothing." Me and Logan say in unison.

"It's creepy when you do that, seriously you look alike I don't need you to sound alike too. "

"Sorry. " we both say again.

We all laugh.

I gesture for Finn to climb up and he does.

"You nervous?" I ask Logan.

"Nah," he starts. " I'm kinda excited actually. "

"Me too. "I say.

"I wonder what we're doing today. " Finn says.

"Yeah I hope I get ranked high enough. " I say.

"I'd rather die than be faction less. " Logan says.

"Me too. " I agree.

"I don't know, is it really that bad?" Finn asks.

I open my mouth to say something when Luna and Nora walk through the door.

"C'mon were going to be late!" Nora says laughing.

I jump off the bed and run to catch up with them.

Today Four demonstrates how to do a basic kick and punch. We each practice I front of a bag dangling from the ceiling.

I take a deep breath and punch it as hard as I can, doing it like he told me too. The bag doesn't move an inch. I try again, harder this time, but still nothing and my knuckles hurt. I try kicking it. It's better and the bag moves but I look pathetic compared to everyone else. I think Four notices because he comes over to help me.

"Come to tell me how good I am?" I joke. But he doesn't smile.

"When your small its better to use your knees and elbows. " he says and then walks over to someone else.

After what seems like ten hours of punching that stupid bag, I am considerably better but I still am bad.

"Tomorrow we pair you up to fight each other," Four starts.

What? No I can't do this. Not after dad hit me everyday. I can't have someone else do it.

I start to panic. I look at Four, he's talking but his voice isn't reaching me. I try to listen. I strain trying very hard to hear. I look to Four again but I don't see Four, I see dad. Yelling at me but I do t hear him.

Maybe if I calm down I can hear. I take deep breaths and try to take my mind of tomorrow. When I regain my hearing everyone is leaving.

"You okay?" Logan says quietly in my ear.

"In fine. " I lie.

"No your not, don't lie. " he says.

"I just flipped our but in okay. " I say.

"Is anyone else really, really tired?" Nora exclaims.

"Yes!" I agree. " I feel like I'm made of jelly!"

"You guys are such girls. " Logan says.

"Excuse me?" I say.

"How do you expect to be Dauntless if you can't even spend a few hours kicking a bag?" He says.

"Shutup you!" I say slapping his arm.

"Ow!" He says.

"How do you expect to be Dauntless if you can't even take a slap on the arm?" I say mimicking him.

"Burned by your sister!" Nora yells.

When we reach our room Nora looks back.

"Where are Logan and Luna?" Nora asks.

"Dunno." Finn says.

I sit on my bed and Nora joins me. Finn sits on his.

"Don't tell either of them I told you this,"I start. "But I think he might be asking he out. " I say smiling.

"Serious?" Finn says laughing.

I nod.

"They'd be so good together!" Nora awes.

We get a few weird looks from Peter and his friends but I don't really care.

Luna and Logan walk in and we all stare at them, they are holding hands.

"Knew it!" I say pointing to them with both hands, one next to my face and one stretched in front of me.

Finn and Nora laugh but the others look awkward.
