Week 2, Day 7

George had never been more desperate.

He knew deep down that there was no cure. Dream was right.

But. . .

He wasn't ready to accept it.

He wasn't allowed to.

If he accepted Dream's death, he would be giving up on the team. He'd be giving up on Dream, who had forgiven him, laughed with him, fought with him. He'd be giving up on his best friend, accepting his death.

More importantly, though, he'd be giving up on Sapnap. Sapnap had worked so hard the last month. George knew how much Sapnap was struggling to stay strong. The man always tried to stay strong for his friends, there to support and encourage the other two.

He had to keep trying.

Cause. . .

If Dream died, so would the team. Sapnap would be completely lost in his mind, voices taking over his mind, turning him into an emotionless robot. Although the raven tried to hard to hide it, George knew that he'd been hearing voices.

"George." A voice spoke, pulling him out of his thoughts. He whipped around to see Sapnap standing by the door, his white eye flickering. "Dream's called everyone together."

"What." George deadpanned, and then calmed his breathing. "Lead the way."

George followed Sapnap past the empty buildings of the DreamSMP, memories flurrying through his mind, memories of the trio laughing and fighting. Happy memories. They passed the community house, where it all started. They passed church prime, where they had quite literally created their own religion. They passed Tubbo's old house, where Sapnap and Dream had recorded the infamous threat. They walked along the prime path, the path that they had walked on countless times, whether it be to war or for fun.

Sapnap finally stopped in L'manberg, where George could see the silhouette of people standing together. George approached the crowd, brow furrowing.

"George. You're here." A soft voice sighed, and George looked up to see Dream standing on a stage. George eyed Dream's pale hands, which were fidgeting intensely.

"Why is everyone here?" George asked, voice shaky. Dream didn't answer him, but straightened his back, feet floating off the ground.

"Hi everyone." Dream started, and everyone went silent. Dream let out an audible breath.

"I know I've caused a lot of people to worry lately, considering my. . . situation. I know many of you have been working hard to find a cure, but you should really stop. I. . . I'm not going to be here for long. There's nothing you can do. I'm sorry. But I didn't call you all here just for that. I just want you guys to know that I'm so thankful.

Tubbo, Tommy. I'm sorry for everything I did, and I know I could never make up for it. But you two are such amazing people, and I wish you guys a bright future."

Tommy and Tubbo nodded silently.

"Phil. You were the first person to welcome me, to forget my past and welcome my new personality. I have so many happy memories with you, so thank you."

Phil looked like he was on the edge of tears.

"Niki, you were so welcoming, I loved baking with you. Fundy, I'm sorry, I hope you find someone better than me. You deserve so much, thank you for everything. Puffy, you were the best mother ever. Bad and Skeppy, thank you for taking care of me, and I hope you guys have a very romantic future."

Everybody laughed at that, while Bad and Skeppy went quite pink. "Thank you, Dream." Skeppy answered with a giggle.

"Techno and Wil? Oh gosh. You guys were like brothers to me. I. . . I don't know how to put my appreciation into words."

"You don't need to, Dream." Wilbur smiled softly. Dream smiled back.

"Everyone else, I'm so sorry for the trouble I've caused, and I wish you all the best."

Many people aw'd at that.

"George? Sapnap?" Dream whispered. "Oh god, where do I start? You guys were my brothers, standing next to me from the beginning. I would have died a lot earlier if it weren't for you two. You two stayed with me, helped me, pulled up me off the ground. And I. . ."

Dream's breathing stuttered, and he collapsed to the ground.

"DREAM!" George and Sapnap screamed at the same time, rushing up to the stage to help their best friend.

"Dreamdreamdreamdream" Sapnap shook the blonde desperately, hands gripping at the cold skin. Dream coughed, the sound harsh and raspy. George knew without looking that the raven's eyes were both flickering from white to black.

"Sapnap? George?" Dream whispered softly.

"Heyhey, we're here. We're here." The two of them hugged their dying friend.

"Guys?" Dream breathed.

"Yeah?"

"I'm fading."

"what." George and Sapnap froze at the same time.

"No, no!" Sapnap's voice was breaking. "Dream!"

Dream reached up with shaky arms, wrapping them around his friends.

"I love you guys."

"We love you too, Dream." George and Sapnap whispered back, and. . .

Dream faded away.
