Tears threatened to fall from my eyes as Helen enveloped me in a hug. The press continued to ask questions and take pictures as I did my best to ignore him.
"No matter what, you will always be my princess." my dad told me, kissing my forehead. A tear made it's way onto my cheek and he wiped it off with his hand.
"I love you dad. And you too, Helen." I said, giving them a tearful smile. They returned the expression with pride.
I stalked off to my airport terminal, not looking back. There were people carrying my suitcase for me. I'd insisted I wanted to carry it myself but they didn't let me.
I took my seat and closed my eyes, considering I'd spent the entirety of last night crying over Luke, it wasn't a shock I immediately fell asleep.

I woke to random girl sitting on the aisle seat next to me. She had short, choppy brown hair and eyes that couldn't seem to fixate on one colour and fluctuated between blue, purple and pink. How that was possible, was beyond my comprehension. She seemed to be a reading a book. I didn't want to disturb her so I looked out of my window. I saw skyscrapers below, which meant we were crossing Angeles. Wow, I'd really been asleep four complete hours.
"You're Annabeth Chase?" The girl asked, turning to me. I nodded, facing her.
"What's your name?"
"Piper McLean."
"From Angeles?" I asked and Piper nodded. That must've meant she just got on the plane.
"I'm from Carolina."
"Cool. So, you nervous?" She asked me with a polite smile.
"Yeah, you?" I asked her.
"Bit. But it's more about the situation than the Prince. Bit underwhelming for a Prince, don't you think?" She asked, her voice holding an air of familiarity when she talked about the Prince.
"Definitely not." I said stupidly and my cheeks flushed red. No, I wasn't going to fall for some shallow, rich, arrogant toerag. And plus, I hadn't even met him yet. (A/N yes, that's a Harry Potter reference)
"Oh well. You and everyone else." she said, shrugging her shoulders.
We talked for a while. I discovered that her and Drew Tanaka were step sisters. Their mother was world famous model Aphrodite and Piper's father was Tristan McLean, a world famous actor.
I told her my plain old story, excluding the part about Luke. I didn't want anyone knowing I was heartbroken."Please brace yourselves. We will be landing in a moment." The pilot announced.
"Here we go." Piper said, grabbing the armrest tightly as I mirrored her actions.
Almost immediately, the plane shot downward at a sixty degree angle. I bit my tongue and tried my best not throw up. Piper laughed as I too felt a tickling sensation in my stomach. I let out a giggle.
The plane landed soon and we dismounted. Once off, we were greeted by a woman. Her dark hair was in a tight bun and she was wearing a skirt with a white button up.
"Good Evening, ladies." she said loudly, as all thirty five of the Selected assembled before her. "I'm your guide and teacher, Miss Hera."
Miss Hera called the names of each of the Selected one by one, sending them off towards their rooms, accompanied with their luggage. A servant carried my suitcase as I followed him to a room labeled 'Lady Annabeth' on the second floor.
"Open up, Kriss!" The man screamed, then he looked at me apologetically. "Sorry for shouting, miss." He muttered.
"It's fine." I said with a smile. The man looked like he had never been excused before.
The door swung open to reveal a short lady in a dress with an apron. "Put that there, Richard." She ordered the man, who put the suitcase near the door and left.
"Lady Annabeth." The red haired lady curtsied, "I'm your head maid Kriss. And this here is Katrina and Jannet." She said, pointing toward a blonde and a maid with dark brown hair. I nodded and looked around the room. It was beautiful to say the least. The walls were painted grey and the bedsheets on the double bed were a darker shade of the same colour.
"Did you make this?" I asked them out of sheer curiosity as I felt the curtains. All three of them blushed.
"We know it's not much, miss. But-" Kriss began.
"It's beautiful, thank you." I said, with a smile. The girl's looked at me incredulously. Then they all beamed.
"You are too kind, miss." Jannet told me.
"No, all the effort you guys put in is amazing. I know I just got here, but you deserve to be appreciated." I reassured as the girls beamed once more.
"Er-, I'm a bit hungry. I didn't have anything in the plane and -"
"Of course, miss." Katrina spoke up. I recognised that she spoke with a firm Russian accent. Katrina and Jannet swiftly left the room and I stared at them blankly, confused.
"They've gone to get your dinner. You will be having it here today, but tommorow morning onwards, you have meals with the Royal family." Kriss informed me. I sat on the bed as Kriss began to pull something from a closet nearby.
"What's that?" I questioned.
"Gown, miss. Or do you not intend on sleeping?" She asked politely.
I nodded again, feeling lightheaded and jet lagged. Funny, my previously lost weeks of sleep seemed to be catching up with me now. Katrina and Jannet returned soon after with a tray of food. I ate ravenously, it was rare as a five for me to receive a three course meal.
Once I was done, my maids said they were going to get me changed into my gown.
"What?" I asked. "Can I not change my own clothes?"
Katrina and Kriss shook their heads and Jannet answered. "We're supposed to help you-"
"Absolutely not." I declared, lifting my and into the air. "If it isn't a dress which is difficult to change into, I don't want you wasting your talents and effort on dressing me."
My maids sighed defeatedly and I dismissed them. I slipped out of my skinny jeans and sweatshirt and clothed myself in a silk gown. I tucked myself into bed. It was warm and comfortable, inviting a comfortable rest.
But not for me.
The painful memory of Luke yelling at me stormed my head. Him stomping away from my house. His hand across my face.
I never saw him again. I started crying for a second day consecutive after the spells from the previous week.
And I didn't sleep till four.
A/N MY GIRL KRISS DESERVES A SHOUTOUT AND SHE GOT ONE. Not that anyone's gonna read my stuff but still...
