it was an accident;

"i cannot believe you didn't tell me, Y/N! how long? how long have you been in a relationship with harry potter?!"

"seven-seven months"

"seven months?" she questioned, her voice getting louder, "seven months?! jesus christ, Y/N!"

i sighed, half in anger and half in upset. i didn't mean to hurt her.

i knew her and harry were close, i didn't want her to find out and think that we were replacing her.

hermione, harry, ron and i were really close.

i had known hermione since childhood, when we got our letters to join hogwarts she introduced me to harry and ron.

we clicked instantly and before we knew it, four years had passed.

but now, i was fighting for our friendship.

"listen, hermione, i'm really so-"

"oh, save it, Y/N" she yelled.

"please, just let me explain" i begged.

"you've done enough...goodbye"

she turned on her heel and continued to strut to the door.

she swung the door open and stepped out, slamming it behind her.

"for fucks sake!" i screamed in anger before walking to the common room to try and find harry.

"hel-"

"did you tell hermione that we're dating?" i interrogated, cutting him off in the middle of his greeting.

"no?" he said, audibly confused.

"then who did? i know it wasn't me, harry, are you lying to me? if you're lying to me i'm gonna dump your ass right now!"

"no. no, no, no, i would never lie to you" he said, softly.

"i don't understand. if you didn't tell her then who di-" i froze.

"Y/N? Y/N?" he questioned, attempting to bring me out of the trance i seemed to be in.

"ron" i said quickly before running to find him.

i stormed into his dorm, him giving me a sheepish look when he saw the rage in my eyes.

"hi, Y/N" he said weakly.

i walked past him.

i turned back to him, slightly screaming in frustration,

"did you tell hermione about me and harry?"

"i didn't mean to, it was an accident" he pleaded.

"oh for god's sake, ronald! she won't even let me explain myself! i didn't want to hurt her, now i look bad for lying! oh god!"

"Y/N, calm down. she just needs time to think. go to sleep and she'll probably come round tomorrow to talk about it"

"you better hope she does. i can't believe this is the first fight we've had since we were kids and it's all my fault" i paused, "well, partly" i added, giving him a side look.

"sorry" he muttered.

"that's not gonna fix it but i appreciate it. see you soon, weasley" i said, giving him a hug before leaving his dorm without another word.

three days had gone by and not a word from hermione.

we were sitting on the sofa in the common room.

i looked at him, tears filling up in my eyes.

"i'm sorry, i can't do this anymore" i said, running upstairs.

"Y/N? baby!" he called, i ignored him.

i cried on my bed for a little while, before being interrupted by harry.

he smiled softly at me before sitting next to me.

he put his arm around my shoulders and brought my head to his, beginning to gently stroke my hair.

"go and talk to her, Y/N. you're not gonna sort it out by crying" he said, gently placing a kiss to my temple.

"come with me?" i asked, sniffling.

he shook his head,

"i can't, Y/N. you have to do this on your own"

i nodded, sighing, "you're right"

i knocked on her door, swallowing nervously.

she answered, her eyes widening when she saw me.

"Y/N?" she asked.

"i'm so sorry" i said quietly, "i never meant to hurt you. i didn't tell you for that precise reason, we didn't want you to think i was replacing you or something. we weren't ready to talk about it with anyone. we only told ron because he figured it out. well, when i say figured it out, he walked in on us kissing, it was this whole thing, sorry i'm rambling, i-"

"Y/N" she interrupted, "it's okay. i understand. i overreacted. and please don't tell me what you two get up to in your spare time, i feel awful that ron had to witness that"

i nodded in agreement,

"he didn't take it well, very awkward. remember when he barely said a word for like a week and you kept asking what the bloody hell was wrong?"

"oh my god, that was because of-" she began to laugh, a sound that i had missed and was so relieved to hear.

"so...we good?"

she smiled,

"of course. love you"

"love you too" we said, embracing each other in a long-overdue hug.
