Willow's POV
I arrive at school and make my way to the library. I made sure to come a little early so I could complete an important task.
I take the piece of paper out of my backpack and scan the room. We weren't allowed to use the computers for anything other than school work.
Once the librarian went into her office I quickly put in the name on the paper. I searched for a bit and saw that the current address matched that newest one I have.
I have his name. I have his address. Boston. He lives in Boston. I close out of the computer and leave.
I stop by my locker, walk to class and make it to my seat just as the first bell rings, meaning there's ten minutes before class actually starts.
I take out my books and read until then.
--
School went by pretty smoothly. Nothing big really happened. I had a couple of tests, I ate lunch alone, I got called Mary.
Nothing out of the ordinary. Things are starting to get stressful though. It's the start of March, my senior year.
College acceptance letters are due to come in any day now. Many of my classmates have already received theirs.
As I got out of school I got a call from Luke asking me to drive him home because his gold outing included going to the club bar.
On the way home I was informed of everything. The franchising, the golf clubs, the expensive coins.
"Oh, what the hell is a Diebenkorn?" he asks.
"Richard Diebenkorn is an artist. His paintings are nice, and cost roughly the same price as a human soul," I joke.
"Do you like Greeks?" he asks.
"What do you mean?" I laugh.
"I implied that I liked the Greeks and he's making me read The Iliad and The Odyssey, so we can chat about them," he informs me.
"Of all the things he could have asked you to read, those aren't awful. They're actually really good. I've read them both. I can loan them to you if you'd like."
"Uh huh, sure," he mumbles.
I look over to see he's pretty much fallen asleep. I let him rest until we get to the diner. I make Caesar help me get him upstairs where he rests for a couple of hours.
Before I got to work in the diner I changed out of my uniform. I also left some aspirin and water on Luke's bedside table, along with my copies of both the Iliad and the Odyssey.
--
The next morning I get up and get ready for school as normal. I'm running a little behind, but if I leave soon I'll still have plenty of time.
As I walk down the stairs I hear someone lasagna.
"Got obsessed. Made hundreds of lasagna trying to find the perfect recipe. He wore an apron-"
"Okay, Liz, you don't even live here yet," Luke says.
"Fine. I got to bail, anyhow. TJ's meeting me at the realtor's office," Liz replies.
"Lorelai, it was great seeing you again," she says.
"You, too," Lorelai replies.
"Luke, you tell Willow I'm sorry I missed her. I want to hang out just the two of us while I'm in town."
"Um, okay, Liz."
"Later, Bro."
"Uh huh."
I hear the bell ring and I don't stick around for anything else. I run back up the stairs and crawl back into bed.
I don't want to see her. I don't want to talk to her. She doesn't know I found the letters. The only people who know are Jess and Luke.
Not even Lorelai and Rory know yet. Luke doesn't have to worry about getting me up in the morning, so it takes him coming upstairs for something to realise I never left.
"What the hell are you doing in bed? You have school. You're already late."
"I heard her," I mumble.
"What?"
"I heard her," I repeat.
"Ugh, Willow," he sighs.
"You're going to have to talk to her."
"No," I say, pulling my blanket over my head.
I hear the sound of his boots making their way closer to me and then I feel my bed dip down at my feet.
"Will, I know what she did was awful, but you have to talk to her."
I think for a minute. There's no way he's going to let her leave without us talking. I pull my blanket back.
"Fine."
"Okay. Lorelai is coming over for dinner tonight," he says.
"Am I supposed to disappear?" I ask.
"You don't have to, but it'd be nice if you could. I'll save you some food," he says, getting up.
"I'll just stay at her house tonight, or maybe hang out with Lane."
"Okay, now get up."
He stops at the door and looks back at me.
"No school."
He just looks at me for a second before sighing again.
"Fine. No school, but only for today."
He starts to leave.
"Thank you," I yell as he closes the door.
