I park outside the diner, grab my bag, and slide out of my truck. As I do I notice a car park behind me. Jess climbs out. I smile as I watch him grab his bags.

He speeds right past me and into the diner. I quickly follow behind. He goes right up to the counter.

"I'm caught up on everything now, right?" I hear Lorelai ask Luke.

"I'd say so," he replies as he spots Jess.

"I'm not paying for a motel, so I'm staying with you," Jess tells him.

"Yeah!" I cheer, once again following Jess as he heads upstairs.

"Uh, liar!" I hear Lorelai say.

When we get upstairs Jess goes over to his bed and drops his stuff. I drop my backpack on the kitchen table and toss my blazer on my bed. Just as he turns to talk from his bed I catch him in a hug.

I attack him with enough force that I knock him backwards and he lands in a sitting position onto his bed. He squeezes me tight, pulling me close.

"Just just saw me in New York."

"It's not the same."

"How is it not the same?"

"You were just arguing with Luke."

"There wasn't much arguing. Just him talking at me."

"You didn't even give me a hug."

"I'm hugging you now."

"Is it even a reunion if I don't get a hug?" I ask.

"I guess not."

I pull back and look up at him. He takes a moment to kind of look me over and then lets out a short laugh.

"What?" I ask.

"You're wearing plaid."

"It's my uniform."

"I know."

"And? What of it?"

"You look like a dork," he says with another laugh.

I stand up and lightly punch him.

"Jerk."

"Brat."

"Am not," I replied.

I change out of my uniform and then do my homework. Jess ends up hopping in the shower and Luke comes up to do some work at the kitchen table as he eats a sandwich.

"Ah, you're here," Jess says, walking out of the bathroom.

"I do show up occasionally," Luke replies.

"Place looks the same. Is that your dinner?"

"Couldn't book my usual table at Le Cirque."

"Right. I wasn't sure what I could eat," Jess says, opening the fridge.

"Eat what you like. Start with the expired stuff."

"Uh, maybe I'll go out."

"I'm hearing good buzz about a chow mein sandwich."

"I'll go with you," I tell Jess.

"What's on the playlist these days? I'm guessing Jethro Tull, or Jetro Tull," Jess says, reaching for the stereo.

"Hey, just stay away from that," Luke says, jumping up, and snatching up the stereo.

"What's with you?" Jess asks.
