Your POV
You had been roaming the streets of New York since you were a little girl, so even though you probably should still feel anxious to do so, you didn't feel that way at all. It wasn't as dangerous up on the rooftops though. You hardly ever saw anybody up there, and when you did you were able to run away and hide before they could even think of going after you.
Tonight wasn't any different. You started your walk as usual by walking down the long sidewalk next to your apartment complex before making your way up a fire escape and to the rooftops. It was quiet up there, which you enjoyed greatly. Usually the only close sounds were the occasional cat or mouse scurrying away or a bird that decided to land. Right now there was no one around, or so it seemed.
You sat down on the edge of a four story building, looking down at the ground. There were definitely no intentions of jumping off, but you wondered what would happen if you were to fall. You shuddered at the thought.
Unfortunately, you nearly got to experience that sensation when a voice from behind you startled you. "Hello," The person said. You fell but only for a moment, because a hand wrapped around your arm and kept you from making a big splat on the ground below.
"Didn't mean to startle you that much," The person said. You realized that he was indeed not a person, but a large talking turtle. You would have thought that you were hallucinating if it weren't for the fact that you knew this turtle already.
"Leonardo," You said.
"(Y/n), you've grown."
Suddenly you were hugging him. You don't know why you were, but it felt right. "Why didn't you ever come back?"
He explained to you about Shredder and the Invasion and everything in-between. He felt like it would be safer to not see you. That didn't stop him from watching over you from a distance. Eventually though you grew and moved away and he didn't know where you went.
At the end of his explanation you began to tear up. He asked you if you were okay. "I'm just... after all these years I began to wonder if it was all a dream or if I were going crazy... I was wondering if you were even real."
"Trust me I'm real, squirt."
"Don't call me squirt I'm not a kid anymore."
"Yeah but you're still short."
"I am average height."
"Yes. Short."
You playfully hit him. "Shut up."
"Younger you had more manners than that."
You rolled your eyes and walked past him. "I saw that!" He shouted. You giggled and started running across the rooftops, and he followed behind.
