Leo:

You had one of the worst days of your life. You somehow managed to sleep through your alarm, in turn being late for school. Normally you would walk to school, but today you had to run, and on the way it started pouring. Your thick cotton sweatshirt didn't dry all day, so you felt grossly damp into you got home to change. You had piles of homework to do and as soon as you got that finished your mom came home and yelled at you for being late to school. Normally that wouldn't have been a big deal, but after the day you had, it was the breaking point.

You stormed out of the house. Going on walks always cleared your mind, so you started to make your way around the familiar city blocks near your home. You decided that you were going to head to the gas station one block over to get something to eat or drink, so you began to cut through the alley you were next to.

Normally you would think twice after what happened that one night you got attacked, but you were so angry that you didn't care. Luckily, there was no one in sight, so you had the whole alley to yourself. You started to talk to yourself, thinking about what your mom said to you.

"It's not like I tried to sleep through my alarm," You grumbled. You saw a can in front of you. You felt the urge to kick it, so you did, speeding up so you could properly smash it into the wall to your left. The sound that it made echoed through the alleyway. It was silent after the sound died down, that is, until someone spoke up.

"Careful," The voice warned, "making noise like that, you might draw unwanted attention to yourself."

You didn't even have to look up to know who it was, as you remembered his voice from the night that he saved you, but you looked up to see him looking down at you from the rooftop above.

"It's you."

"Wanna come up here and talk about it."

A few moments later he was helping you crawl up the side of a building, which was pretty crazy, but after what happened today you felt good to be doing something that was both fun and dangerous.

The two of you took a seat on the ledge of the roof, and you proceeded to tell him about your horrible day. He was a great listener, nodding and speaking at just the right times. By the time you were done you were already feeling a lot better.

"I get it," He said, "life sucks."

The way he said it so bluntly made you laugh. "What? Have a bad day too?"

"You couldn't imagine."

He told you about how him and his brother got into a fight. It seemed a lot worse than the one you and your mom had, so you almost felt guilty for complaining about yours.

"I'm sorry that he said those things."

He sighed. "It's fine. He's a hothead so it happens all the time. I'm sorry that your mom yelled at you."

"I'm okay. It wouldn't have bothered me so bad if I wasn't already in a bad mood. You have no idea how bad your day is when you get rained on and have to sit in a damp hoodie all day."

He laughed. "I can only imagine."

From there the two of you spent a few hours talking about life and how it sucks, but you also talked about the good parts too, like good food and your favorite TV shows. You never met someone you related to as much as you did with Leo, which was strange because he was a talking turtle, but that didn't matter, because he was now your friend.
