Your POV

You were always the weird kid, or at least in everybody elses' minds. And the bullies at school made sure to always let you know that.

Right now they had you cornered in an alley way, pressed up against the brick wall behind you as they threw insults in your direction.

"Maybe of you ask I'll stop. Oh wait, you never talk do you?" One laughed.

You never could stand up for yourself. You felt too weak and helpless, so the bullying went on and on.

"Please, ju-just stop," you said quietly.

"Did you hear something?" One asked.

"No." The other smirked.

"Oh, must have been a fly or something."

"Leave me alone," you said, louder this time.

"Oh, so she does speak," She taunted.

"How about we show her what happens to the weird kids?" Her friend said.

"Hmm, Good idea." She cracked her knuckles before the two of them advanced on you.

The seemingly leader of the two girls picked you right in the jaw, bringing you to the ground almost immediately.

"Stop. P-please stop!" You pleaded as they kicked you in the ribs.

"Why should we?" The other smiled innocently, but anger still showing in her eyes.

"Leave her alone!" Mikey's voice suddenly echoed through the alleyway.

"Who's there?" The girls stopped attacking you to look around.

From where you were laying you could see Mikey doing shadow puppets, projecting them on the alley wall, making a tall figure. "Your worst nightmare!"

The two girls screamed before running off.

Your head started to spin, and your vision blurry. The last thing you saw was everyone rushing towards you. Then you were out like a light.
.
You woke up all alone in Donnie's lair. You started to sit up, but stopped as pain flooded through your side, reminding you of the brutal beating you got in the alley. A bandage was wrapped tightly around your torso. You rushed for your sweatshirt, which was sitting next to you. You were embarrassed to think someone took it off to bandage you, but knew you were in safe hands, and that you complete trusted the turtles. Still, you still felt insecure that they saw you in just a thin tight tank top.

"Oh, hey, (y/n). You're awake." Donnie walked in the room, holding a mug of something.

You tried to sit up again, but hissed in pain.

"Hey, take it easy there," Donnie said. "You didn't break anything, but you have some pretty bad bruises. They kicked you pretty hard."

You nodded in response as you covered yourself with your sweatshirt, suddenly feeling exposed in front of him.

"Oh, I made you this." He smiled, handing you a large mug of hot chocolate, knowing it was your favorite.

You smiled shyly back at him. "Thank-thank you."

"You're welcome," He said.

You started to drink the hot chocolate, but eventually stopped as you saw that Donnie had a look of sadness and disappointment both strewn across his face.

It took a few moments to form the words in your mouth, but you eventually got them out, "What's wrong?"

He sighed, "We should have gotten there sooner, then you wouldn't be hurt like this. And why haven't you ever told us before? We could have helped you."

"I... I just did-didn't find it important," You admitted.

"Didn't find it important! (Y/n), this is serious stuff. You got hurt," He sighed seeing you cringe at his outburst. "I care about you, okay?" He blushed slightly. "I just don't want you to get hurt."

"You-you care about me?" You asked, shocked at what he was saying.

"I mean... yeah, of course I do. I don't know how I couldn't. You're just so amazing and... I-I... I really like you—like, like-like you—and I totally get it if you don't feel the same way. I mean, who would, I'm just a mutant and-"

You leaned forward and wrapped your arms around him. It was always easier for you to show someone how you're feeling through physical touch, it was just so much easier than trying to put a whole bunch of words together and then fail at saying them. "I-I like you to."

He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close. "You had no idea how hard it was to see you laying in that alley."

"I'm sorry," you whispered a swarm of guilt suddenly consuming you.

"It's not your fault. But if it happens again you need to tell me, okay? I don't want anything to happen to you."

You nodded against his chest, and you stated that what for a long, long time.
