Gianna
"Come on Gia," Riley complains as she bounces uncontrollably on my bed.
Riley has been my best friend since before I can even remember. Every memory I have has Riley attached to it. She's my other half tall, fair skinned, long straight blond hair, blue eyes, and amazing boobs. Whereas for me well I wouldn't say I'm short, 5'4 is perfectly normal. I have long curly dark brown hair and when I say long I mean long, it rest just at my butt. Dark brown eyes that most of the time look black. I have tan skin with a thin but fit built. Complete opposites like I said but we couldn't be more the same.
"I'm coming jeez. You'd think someone like you would know the importance of a girl looking her best!" I tease her as I continue to search through my closet looking for something to wear.
"I don't know why you don't just conjure up something. I do it all the time see," and with a snap of her fingers her pink halter dress and gladiator sandals turn into a red off the shoulder silk shirt paired with skin tight leather pants and 5 inch high heel pumps. Riley is a full blown Witch unlike me, but I'm stronger seeing as I'm the key.
"You know you can't wear that to school," I laugh at her.
"Ha ha very funny." She says deadpan, "You know I really don't care what Headmaster Reid says, nor do you for that matter." Riley says as she flops back down on my bed.
"Yeah true, but I would like to make it through the school year without my Dad or Mom for that matter showing up at school giving me the you should know better than that Gianna. You're better than that Gianna. When will you grow up Gianna your 18 now for heaven's sake speech." I mock my parents lecturing tone.
"Aghh I know what you mean my parents have been on me too lately. It's so annoying." Riley says as she props herself up on her elbows to better look at me.
"I'm so tired of all the claiming stuff too. I mean nobody asked me if I wanted to be the key." I complain as I pull my favorite purple V-neck sweater, white lace tank top, and dark stone washed jeans from my closet.
As I start getting dressed the non-magical way, I look over at Riley to see her chewing on the inside of her cheek. Knowing Riley, as well as I do, that her chomping away is a sign that she wants to say something, but is trying really hard not to.
"Ry just spit it out, before you put a hole in your face that you don't want," I sigh as I grab my black strap high heels and head over to my vanity.
"Well," Riley sighs to herself, another tell tailed sign she really doesn't want to say whatever it is.
"Ry just say it!" I shout as I grab my brush and try to tame my mane of hair.
"Well I know you're the key and all. You have the birthmark, you were born at the right time and day and the maiden of knowledge came to your parents before you were born, but what if they're wrong? What if you're not the key? What if you get hurt or even worse killed because of some cosmic fuck up?" Riley says as she's pacing around my room. She halts in front of me and grabs my shoulders, "I can't lose you. I'd be so lost without you Gia, you're my best friend."
Oh God she's getting mushy Riley never gets mushy. "Ry you're kidding me right?" I ask her with an eyebrow arch. She hates it when I do that, because she can't. Prying her fingers from my shoulders I say, "Are you seriously doubting my badassery? And she's not called the maiden of knowledge she's the Oracle aaaaaand she's never been wrong in like all of time like ever." I start to go about finishing getting ready for school when I remember something. "Oh and before I forget don't dis my birthmark, I like my little star." I actually did like my star shaped birthmark; it sits on my left shoulder. I love it because it doesn't look like a normal birthmark; it looks more like a tattoo. Whenever I'm around another super it glows a different color. Witches glow green, Vampire glow red, Fae glow purple, Werewolves glow orange, and Shape Shifters glow blue. It's pretty awesome, but the only down fall of it is anyone looking for the key can easily find me.
"I would never doubt your badassery," Riley fiends mock innocents. "I mean come on, Miss Gianna Spence who has gotten countless detentions and in school suspensions due to kicking anyone's ass that looked at you the wrong way," Riley says with her hands up in surrender. I bust out laughing so hard that tears instantly start rolling down my face.
"Oh okay Miss Riley Cooper whom, has sat through every single one of them with me," I retort back to her as I wipe my face and start to re-do my make-up.
"Oh whatever do you mean? Little ol' me get into trouble why never," Riley comes back with her best southern drawl.
"OK enough I want to finish getting ready. Jeez some people." I apply my lip gloss and smack my lips together.
"OK lets rock this bitch, it's our senior year of school so let's make it count." Riley bounds for my bedroom door.
She turns around to look at me over her shoulder with her million dollar smile I snap my fingers. Her once bad girl outfit is turned into a nuns habit, Riley's smile fades. "Oh no you didn't." she says with her finger waving back and forth in front of her and her head following her finger. Snap my favorite purple sweater is turned into a bright rainbow tutu with rainbow striped leggings, ballet flats and an itchy rainbow wool turtleneck.
"Ewe this is way too much rainbow and Ry a tutu seriously?" I say as I stomp my foot and point to my newly acquired tutu.
Giggling like mad women we snap our fingers and change back. I change back into my purple sweater and Riley into her pink halter dress, this time adding a mini cardigan to cover up her shoulders and we head out.
