The voices

By the time we finished dinner, I still couldn't get Kara to talk about the food she lived with. She would just ramble on about something else. So I didn't push it. It wasn't like I was prying, its just alarming when your younger sister doesn't recognize what the hell salad was.

Could they be starving them? The patients at the sanitarium? Or am I being dramatic?

Talk about Drama.

I needed to change the subject.

"How do you feel? I know we haven't been talking lately because of all your sessions." I asked, beginning to clear the table.

"Oh you know, the sessions are always a bit...blah, to say the least." Kara admitted, not looking into my eyes.

I gave her a funny look. "What? You want me to admit that I hate living there? Of course I do, but saying that isn't going to change anything." She all but yelled.

Everytime Kara would sign when she was mad, her hands would shake with anger. Good to know somethings haven't changed she was 9.

"Kara, I know you hate it there, and I've tried everything to get you out but for now you're gonna have to talk to someone, and if that person isn't your shrink, it's gonna be me."

Her head was down, preventing me from seeing her eyes, but I know I got threw to her.

I finished clearing the table while Kara just sat in her chair, motionless.

As I walked into the kitchen, I glanced at the mysterious flowers again. Should I throw them away, or keep them? The vase was pretty and it would be a shame to throw it out.

Turned out, I didn't have to decide.

Kara came into the kitchen and stood next to me. "To be honest, sis, I don't like the feeling I'm getting from these flowers."

"What do you mean?"

She touched one of the petals, and closed her eyes. Then immediately stepped back.

"Kaitlyn, the voices.." her face looked terrified, "they're warning me. Whoever sent you these, is a murderer."
