False Hope

The day I found out I was adopted, was an interesting one.

Don't get me wrong, I was horribly upset, for goddsakes I practically drowned myself in Twinkies.

I mean I knew without a doubt that Kara was my sister. We had the same blood-type, and just looked too much alike not to be.

And when I looked at my parents, I couldn't see them lying to us without a reason. It had to be something more than adopting us because they wanted kids.

How many people do you know who were adopted that got adopted with their sibling?

Doesn't that strike you as odd? Plus in all honesty, I don't believe Mom and Dad intended to have children.

They'd always been close to us in some respect, but their careers just never really had anytime for kids.

Then there's that thing about how Mom has the same electric blue eyes as we do. They made colored contacts, right?

A fact I found to be true when I caught her taking them out one night.

Turns out, she has brown eyes. Huh.

My mind was racing with those thoughts when I jerked awake.

The moment I opened my eyes, I knew I was in a vehicle.

Normally I would have said a car, but whatever I was in was not a measly car.

It looked like I was in the back of one of those bank trucks. You know, the one that transports the money?

But that wasn't exactly the focus of my attention. It was the dozen or so men who were sitting on the outer benches surrounding me.

Once again.

When I realized this I came to find that I was all but laying in a body bag.

I couldn't really comprehend any of it, and when I looked into the man sitting across from me, he didn't say anything.

Or sign in my case.

But to hell with the technicalities. I had just been kidnapped by God knows who to take me to God knows where!

For all I knew they could have taken Kara too. Yeah they took us out one at a time, so maybe she was in another truck like this.

Maybe she was at least somewhat safe.

Because I didn't know what we were going to do.
