We walked into Casey's room. Everyone else was already in there. Gabby was sitting next to Casey's bedside holding his hand. I walk over and put a hand on Gabby's shoulder.
"Gabby he is strong. He is going to be fine." She placed her hand on top of mine and just nodded her head.

It had been an hour since Casey came out of surgery and he was still sleeping. "Guys? I hate to do this but everyone should get going. Someone will call as soon as he wakes up and I'm here."
"Any update call us?"
"You got it Chief."
"Alright men let's go." Everyone started to head out of the room except Gabby.
Chief Boden was getting ready to say something but I put a hand up signaling him to stop. "She can stay. She's his wife."
Chief gave me a nod and left the room. Kelly had also stuck back for a moment. I walk over to him and hug him.
"I can't say thank you enough for saving my best friend."
"Anytime Kelly." Kelly leans down and kisses me. We pull apart. "Go to work. He's in good hands."
"Alright see you later." He gave me another kiss before exiting Casey's room.
I grabbed a chair and sat on the opposites side of Casey bed so I could face Gabby. "How are you doing?"
"I'm broken." I could tell Gabby was trying not to cry.
"Gabs you don't have to be strong just because I'm here. I won't think any less of you if you just want to cry."
It was like that was exactly what she needed to hear. She let lose and the tears started falling. I walked over to her and hugged her.
"It is going to be okay Gabby. Matt would not leave you alone like this." I stood right next to her and let her cry. I rubbed her back to help try and calm her.
A few minutes had passed and she started to calm down. "Thank you."
"Anytime Gabby. Sometimes all you need is a good cry. You have to get your emotions out. Holding them in will eventually break you."
I walked back to my chair and sat down. "Don't you have other patients? You don't have to stay here."
"My residents know where I am if they need me."
We sat for a while. I was scrolling through my tablet reviewing patients charts and ordering meds for the ones who needed it.
All of sudden Gabby spoke. "You guys still haven't said it."
"Huh?" I put my tablet down. Confused as to what Gabby was talking about.
"You and Kelly still haven't side I love you yet have you?"
"I... Uh... No we haven't."
"Why?"
"I don't know just haven't found the right moment too I guess."
"There is never a right moment Taylor. Tomorrow is never promised."
I knew Gabby was right even more so sense Kelly was a firefighter. Gabby gasped and I looked at Casey to see his eyes were open.
"Hey Casey. How you feeling?" I stood up and pulled out my flashlight.
"Sore and groggy."
"To be expected." I wave the flashlight in front of his eyes to see if his pupils were reactive. "I had to perform surgery on you. Do you remember what happened?"
Casey was thinking. "Yeah I do. Kelly and I were trying to find a way out. Then Kelly got this crazy idea. And we jumped off a roof and into a body of water."
"Good. You are going to be just fine. Just take it easy for a couple days." I headed for the door. "I'll go update the firehouse."
"Thanks Doc."
I gave Casey a nod and exit his room. I grab my phone out of my coat and Call Chief Boden.
"Hey Chief. It's Dr. Adams. Casey is awake and talking. He remembers what happened."
"That's wonderful news. I will let the rest of the guys know."
I hung up my phone and started to do rounds before I headed out. Giving Gabby and Casey some alone time.

I went back to my office once I was finished for the day, to gather my belongings. There was a knock at my office door.
"It's open." The door came open and there was Kelly. He stepped into my office and closed the door. "Hey I thought we were meeting at home today." I stepped out from behind my desk.
Kelly just walked over and hugged me not saying a word. I could feel part of my shirt becoming wet. Then I noticed Kelly was crying. "Kelly it's going to be okay. Casey is fine. He'll be out of here in a day or two."
Kelly lifted up his head. "I know. I just got scared thinking what if it was me and what if I didn't make it. Leaving you alone again and with another baby."
"Kelly you didn't leave me alone last time. I left and didn't tell you. Don't beat yourself up. It's going to be alright." I took his hand and placed it on my stomach. "Always know that I love you and this baby loves you. You have a job to do."
Kelly smiled at me. "I love you too Taylor." He wrapped his arms around my waist and pull me closer placing a kiss on my lips.
Once our lips separated I rest my forehead against his. "Let's go home. I'm exhausted."
"Alright let's go." Kelly and I headed out the hospital and get in our cars and drove home.
