Oftentimes, people hide from the truth. They feel it's best to cover up the truth, and I wonder why. The truth is usually ugly and bitter, but it's also beautiful. It's beautiful in more ways than one, and I like to believe that the truth is one of the cores of human existence.

Plato (a very serious ancient philosopher you most likely won't know), said that the truth is objective but is obtainable. i.e.: The truth is obtainable, but no matter how hard we try, it can never be universal. I agree with Plato.

You're probably wondering why I'm talking so much about the truth under an article titled 'real life'. You might not agree with me, but real life is the truth and the truth is real life. Real life is reality and reality is the harsh (or sometimes not so harsh) truth.

This write-up is not meant to be lengthy, it's simply supposed to be an introduction to this column, and what it's about. It's a lifestyle column with a difference (walks in with cool sunglasses). I'm going to be talking about everything that people walk on eggshells around. Like I said earlier, people feel the need to hide from the truth and I wonder why.

I mean, just yesterday when I was watching the Bridgerton series (yes, I just saw it... sigh), I realised how little our parents teach us about what happens in real life and how much they teach us about pretending, or 'dealing with it,' as they call it.

The thing is, I've already tried dealing with it, and that didn't work. So what actually works? What can ever make reality less scary? I must be honest with you. I haven't found it yet but that's what this column is for. It's for us to figure it out together. I know everyone reading this-- wherever you may be-- couldn't be any different. But we all have one thing in common, and it's that we're all human, and that's how I'm going to be connecting with all of you.

I'm going to be giving song suggestions at the end of every write-up because, well, I really like music.

For this edition, the songs are: Free Mind by Tems, and Alien by Daniel Lloyd
