"Good job today newbie! I'm shook you hid such talent! Are you a pro or what?"
Today, I decided to work in a theatre. However, I have no intention to play the role as the actor. The talent that were buried long ago because of sensei's death, resurfaced. "Haha, I'm flattered. I'm just a pianist for fun." It is a skill that I worked hard on just to hear sensei praise me again. Thinking back, I'm such a child. Now that sensei is gone, the skill I honed stayed with me. But... my selfish side still wanted any reward for doing an excellent job. Hmm... if no one is gonna reward me, then shouldn't it be me that left to reward myself? Yes, let's do that. After work I'll go and find cocoa beans to make chocolates.
"Great performance everyone! To my surprise, the new face already synchronized with the flaw. Keep it up everyone! Now go take your break. You all deserved it." The director dismissed us. His face shows pure satisfaction of our performances.
"Wanna hang out with your seniors newbie?" The guy from earlier asked me to join his group of friends for lunch.
"Maybe next time. I'm going for a tour around here and see what this place has to offer. I'm new to this town anyway."
"Hmm, that's a good start. We wouldn't want you to lost your way. But as your senior, I advise you to avoid the alley at all cost! Those places were infested with purses snatchers, robbers, gangsters and other sorts of shady people!"
"Alright. I'll remember that." Who do he think he is? My father? Why would he be worried for a stranger he just knew today? Is this... compassion? I see, so this is what 'good people' will do. I may not able to feel it, but I can at least able to do the 'compassion dialogue'. Both of us departed separate ways.
I took a short stroll around the town. The buildings were decorated with Greygoyle statues above the shops. The streets are lively with people passing by and chatting idly. Not far from my location, there stands the biggest building I've seen in this town with big letters on its side. "Harrods. Must be a shopping mall." I sat down on a a public bench and take out a notebook and a pen. "Damn. Even the pen is expensive. This world is made to suck money out of pepople's wallets." This is the age of ink and quills. Ink pens are rare, and most importantly, because it's not largely produced, it's freaking expensive. I may not be compassionate, but I'm no fool. The title of the notebook is 'The Act Of Kindness'. I turned to a new page and start to write.

Date: XX Month XX Date XXXX Year
I accepted a temporary job as a pianist. They praised me for my performance. I kept the humble attitude upfront but nobody seems to belittle me. Maybe because they were desperate to find a pianist and my presence saved their performance from crowd's wrath? I have no clue. Impressed or indebted, either way, it doesn't change the fact that they did praise me.
It's lunchtime and the director gave us three hours worth of break to recover our stamina before the next practice. There's a play happening tomorrow and the director insisted me to be there as their pianist. The actual pianist caught cold and he will need some time to recover. Don't make me start how expensive medicines are. That guy only had his immunity system to rely on.
The seniors asked me to go with them but I refused, saying that I'm trying to get accustomed to the town's road. Rather than saying 'I'll do this', sometimes it's refreshing to use 'I want'. I barely wanted anything as they barely piqued my interest.
Today's thoughts: This world is made to suck money out of people's wallets (no job no income)
P/s: Buy the cocoa from the market and make chocolate. The ones in the store are not up to my standards.
