"You're Alive" Jean muttered in complete shock as he bumped into Levi on his walk around the camp.

"Last time I checked" Levi sassed back as he raised an puzzled eyebrow towards Jean.

"Ah, of course your alive it's just .. well, we thought Mikasa would be killing you right now" Jean nervously mumbled back as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Kill me?" Levi asked, crossing his arms over his chest as he waited for Jean answer.

"Well, she left the private medical room about ten minutes ago to go find out the truth over you and the engagement" Jean answered with a weak smile, glancing away as he felt uncomfortable being stared down by the captain.

"Engagement?" Levi repeated confused making Jean turn back to him with a nod.

"For the past couple years there's been a rumour of you being in engaged with someone. The rumour never faded and has just blown up more since it first got told. Everyone's trying to work out who's the lucky lady and than earlier, you did have a ring in your hands" Jean explained as he scratched the back of his head, wondering if he was going to be punished due to Levi not looking happy.

Levi let a sigh escape his lips as a couple of events or actions by Mikasa started making sense. The night she came to his room, ready to just disappear before she signed the contact and the strange moods she's been in. She knew about the rumour and his dumbass having been giving the wrong answers this whole time thinking she meant something else.

He was going to be in the dog house for the rest of his life.   

"Did she say where she was going to see me?" Levi asked as he looked back to Jean who gave a small nod before thinking over the answer a little.

"Rather sure she'll be heading over to your office but than again, it's been ten minutes and if you're out here .. she might have searched elsewhere by now" Jean answered with an unsure frown, trying to think where Mikasa might head to next if Levi wasn't in his office.

"She'll wait for me in my office knowing she could corner me better there, I'll head over now. But first, I was heading over to check up on Eren, I didn't hold back as much as I should and I know he's a close friend with Mikasa. Is the kid okay?" Levi replied, letting his arms fall to his side as he was on his way to the private medical room to check on the lad and that's why he wasn't in his office. 

"Oh, Eren. He's a suicidal idiot so he's fine" Jean answered without a second though, waving his hand like it was no big deal that Eren just took a beating less than an hour ago. 

"And you? It's clear to anyone that you like Mikasa a little more than a friend, are you going to be okay? I don't want any soldier at risk because their emotions are taking over, I have enough of that with Mikasa" Levi sighed as he ran a hand through his hair while Jean froze up. 

"I did have a crush on her but than when Armin yelled at me and during the past week of seeing how hurt she was. I realised that I loved the Mikasa on the outside and not the real Mikasa, I'm ashamed to admit such a thing. Mikasa deserves someone to love her as much as she loves you and I know I can never be the one to give her that love. So, why it did pain me to take notice of these feelings, I think we make much better friends than a one-sided love" Jean replied with a small sweet smile, his eyes staying honest and soft why he spoke showing that he accepted and believed his own words.
