Side Note: I have to apologize to you all. In the last lot of chapters I made it seem like Mikasa or the other's didn't know who the rumoured women who'll be engaged to Levi was. But thanks to someone commenting on the story that I took notice over my mistake. In chapter 17, I actually use Petra name when Eren spoke over the rumours. I really am sorry for the mix up and mistake over pretending that no one knew. So, from this moment on .. let's pretend everyone knows it's clearly Petra. We'll just pretend that they weren't sure at first since she was in Levi squad and her name might have just been used or something. But for now, they know it was her..

Coughs, pained groans and weakened moans filled the air along with a cloud of dark smoke that almost choked them all. Bits of rood and dirt was littering all over the place and the box with the spare blades were thankfully still closed up within the box they were placed in. The barrels of water rolling to a stop and their food was either mush in the ground or barely salvable for them to eat. Their tents on fire along with bits of woods and two of the horses laid  dead, their deathly winces coming to an end moments ago.

"W-What happened?" Mikasa barely spoke above a whisper, her voice pained and discomfort showed in her eyes.  

"Our gun powder went off too soon" Levi slowly answered, he was already sat up looking to the damage around them. One leg crossed under him while the other was bent up, lazily pulled close to his chest. His uniform was dusty, smoky and dirty with his cravat pulled off and wrapped around Mikasa bleeding upper arm. His right hand held her own close to him and he made no effects to move away from her. 

"But how, none of us had an open flame and the sun couldn't be blamed for this. The barrels were safe from being lit unless one of us did so" Mikasa groggily argued back, lifting herself up a little but staying in a laying position and giving Levi hand a squeeze. 

"I don't know but we're a right mess now" Levi sighed, squeezing her hand back letting her know he was all right. His eyes glanced to her once more before looking around to the mess before them. 

"Is everyone else okay? Was I the last to wake?" Mikasa finally asked, pushing herself to sit up, grunting in pain a little over how sore her body was.

"I think they're all alive, no one has really moved much and I'm only awake thanks to you shielding me. Remind me to yell at you for that, never risk your life just to save me ever again or I will giving you cleaning duties for the rest of your life. But, I think everyone is alive, they seemed to move a little in their sleep at least" Levi answered, speaking calmly before pausing his answer and complaining his thoughts over her actions before he went back to speaking calmly once more.

"How about Christa and Marco, they were at the second cart" Mikasa commented, finally pushing herself to stand as she only felt sore and stiff, no real injures apart from the deep cut on her upper left arm. A worthily injury in her eyes since it would have pierced Levi in the neck if she didn't pull him off their horses as the explosion happened. She would use her body as a shield as much as it was needed to protect the one she cares deeply for. 

"I don't know, the air still mucky and foggy" Levi replied as he pushed himself to stand next, reaching back for Mikasa hand but missed as she stepped forward making him frown.

"I'll check this side of the explosion why you check that side" Mikasa mumbled, rubbing the side of her neck while using her arm to point out the areas she just separated for them to search.

"You do know I'm your captain, you don't get to order me around .. right?" Levi reminded as he crossed his arms, lifting an unamused eyebrow.

"Levi, people could be hurt. We should check who's still alive and how badly injured they may be. We're in the open meaning Titans could come at any time and none of us have checked our gear so we might not even able to face a titan that comes. We're sitting ducks and wasting time arguing over this" Mikasa snapped back, placing her hands on her hips as she turned to the shorter man who guilty glanced around. 

"Just .. look out for the flairs why you check on the others. We need to let the walls know our mission has gone south and we'll be heading back as soon as we can. I just fear we might be doing it by foot, some of the horses haven't returned since running of" Levi sighed as he ran a hand through his air.

"We'll be fine, we're strong .. all of us. We'll return home soon, I know we will" Mikasa smiled softly as she reached her hand out, taking his and giving it a comforting squeezing knowing the thoughts running through his hand. Using her own comfort to ease his mind and bring him back to where they stood now.

"I know we will, I just don't want to see you get anymore hurt than you already are. Just ... don't get your hopes up over finding perfect survivors" Levi muttered back, concern in his eyes as he squeezed her hand back.

"I won't, now let's see if we can find some more comrades ready to head home" Mikasa smirked slightly before releasing their hands and walking off why Levi playfully shook his head, a smile on his lips as he stared at her retreating back. 

He really was in love with this women and he loved it.
