An Alpha's Mate

"Mate." My father repeats Dustin's words as if he would catch something off with the word. My stomach knots as my father just stares at the two of us mostly me. My father takes in a deep breath and takes a couple steps towards me. "Is this true Maxine? Are you really Alpha Dustin's mate as he claims you to be?" My father asks me once he has reached me and I finally look at him.

I know why he's asking this. Sometimes Alpha's who can't find their mate or their dead, the Alpha forces an unmated she wolf to be their mate and tell people it's true. But now an Alpha like father can tell when members of his pack is lying. And I can understand why he's asking me because Dustin is a pretty powerful Alpha.

"Yes, Alpha Dustin is my mate." I say without any hesitation or stuttering. That's what an Alpha looks for at first to see if someone is lying. My father then looks me in the eyes to see if I will break contact with him. You see Alphas do this because the guilt of lying to their Alpha makes you summit to them very easily. After our little stare off my dad finally smiles and gives me a hug. "I'm proud of you, both of you." My dad says after pulling away from me, looking between Dustin and I. "Even though I was little shock that it was you Alpha Dustin but you know fate decides fate." My father says and groan, rolling my eyes.

"Dad just because I found my mate doesn't mean can become an old wise grandpa." I whine dramatically and my father smirks at me. "Well I hope to be that one day when you're thirty." My dad jokes but says the last part as a warning going towards my mate. "Dad!" I screech as my face flushes. I hear my father and mate chuckle.

Then the three of us head back to my pack house. I figured out after a while that Dustin was here because of and a meeting that all Alpha's had at the end of the year. And this year the Stardust Pack was chosen to host it. As we enter the pack house Dustin wraps an arm around my waist and pulling me close to him, protectively. For some reason my pack has the most unmated wolves and that's probably why we are hosting the Alpha meeting this year so some of them could find their mates.

I see Dustin give all the male werewolves in my pack cold, hard glares. I nudge him a little and he looks at me for a brief second to watch me roll my eyes before he goes back to glaring. I didn't notice until now because I was so focused on Dustin that everyone in the pack is staring at us. Everyone keeps staring until we are pulled into the conference room.

When I look around the room is full of men and woman of all ages. There are some formal Alphas, Lunas, and betas, current Alphas, Lunas, and Betas, also some future Alphas and Betas. Everyone goes silent as we enter the room and everyone turns their stares to Dustin and me. But after a moment they return to their current conversations.

"Never been in one of these meetings." I mumble to Dustin, who looks over at me with a small smile. "They're really boring to be honest." Dustin mumbles back for only me to hear. I chuckle a little as I look around the room and I see Tucker standing alone against the wall. I move to walk over to him but Dustin pulls me back by the waist.

"Where do you think you're going?" Dustin asks lowly and I point over to Tucker. "I was going to go talk to Tucker because he had something to tell me that is important." I say and Dustin growls in my ear. "Probably tell you he likes you." He says and I scoff. "Tucker was going to tell me he found his mate." I say and he stops growling at my words.

"I thought you didn't know." Dustin says and I sigh. "I figured it out yesterday because he was really happy and odd." I say and Dustin nods before he gives me a kiss on the cheek and says I can go over there. "I would have gone with or without your permission." I mumble walking over to Tucker. Soon Tucker notices me and sends me a smile. "I know what you're going to tell me." I whisper and Tucker's eyes widen. "And what would that be?" Tucker asks and I roll my eyes playfully. "That you found your mate." I say and Tucker's eyes gleam with happiness. "Yes I did." Tucker says with excitement and I grin at him.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" I ask Tucker as he runs his fingers through his light brown hair. "I wanted to but my mate didn't want me telling anybody yet." He said hurt clear on his face and it causes me to frown. "I'm sure she had a good reason I say rubbing his shoulder. He gives me a small smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

"So..." Tucker trails off glance at Dustin who is talking to some teenager that looks his age. The teen has blonde spiked up hair and bright blue eyes. "He's really your mate?" Tucker asks and I smile at him with nod. "Yeah and he's a lot sweeter than you would think." I whisper to him and Tucker chuckles a little out of disbelief. Then Tucker snaps his eyes over to the door as a young teenage girl slips through the door. No one acknowledges that she'd entered as she scans around the crowd. The girl has beautiful dark brown hair with blonde highlights in them and as I look closely she has blue, almost green eyes.

The girl soon looks at us smiling at Tucker but glaring at me. I glance at Tucker to see him grinning at her and smile spreads on my lips. The girl is Tucker's mate. Tucker's mate walks over to us and gives Tucker a hug. When they pull apart she looks over at me glaring. "Judging by Tucker's reaction is that you're his mate that he was telling me about." I say sending the girl a friendly wink. She stops glaring at me and she gives me a smile.

Soon I feel to large hands wrap around my waist and I lean into them instantly. "I see you have met my sister." Dustin mumbles and I freeze and look between the two. "Sister?!" I say in shock and I see pure shock in Tucker's face. Dustin nods at me with a confused look. "So your saying your sister is Tucker's mate." I say and he snaps his eyes over to Tucker. "You're my sister's mate." Dustin says slowly through gritted teeth and Tucker nods once staring at his mate.

"Good." Dustin says with a small smile, shocking all of us. "Good?" I say and look up at Dustin who looks down at me. "Yeah when she told me she found her mate I thought is going to be that Eric bastard that your dad is making Alpha." Dustin says and I freeze in shock and look at Tucker. He fills with anger as his eyes shift black for a minute. "Your father is making him Alpha." Tucker says in a low voice and I nod slowly. I knew this would happen sooner or later.

"Why didn't you tell me that Maxine?" He asks finally looking at me. "Because there is nothing I could do to change his mind." I say and Tucker nods while calming down with the help of his mate. "What's going on?" Dustin asks and I sigh. "I used to be good friends with Eric until he did something to me." I mumble hoping he wouldn't hear me but he did. "What did he do?!" Dustin voice booms through the room and everyone turns to look at us. I just shake my head on the verge of tears and run out of the conference room with Dustin calling my name.
