It's not over yet

Maxine Pov.

I walk back to cell where I was held and shift back, putting my clothes back on quickly. I turn around to see Eric still in wolf form with his back to me. Suddenly a door swings open and a woman comes rushing in. She gasps loudly as she looks at the Demigod's lifeless body. Eric moves to stand in front of me with a growl. I can smell something off about the woman, she's not human or were.

The woman looks at us with tears streaming down her face with anger in her eyes. "You!" She shouts pointing her finger right at me. "You killed my love!" The woman shouts before she starts speaking unfamiliar words. I scream in pain as a gash suddenly appears on my stomach. Blood splatters on the floor and I fall to the ground.

I watch through blurry eyes as Eric attacks the witch, killing her instantly. I cough up blood as Eric rushes over to me and nudges me with his muzzle. Somehow Eric gets me on his back with me wrapping my arms around his furry neck. "Hold on Maxine, I'll get you to Dustin. Stay awake." Eric mind links me as he starts charging out of the prison and into the forest.

I try to stay awake for as long as I can before my eyes start drooping. "Stay awake Maxine, were almost there." Eric's voice enters my head and I groan. I then again try to keep myself awake but soon fail. "Maxine!" Is the last thing I hear before I'm consumed by darkness.

Eric Pov.

As soon as I cross into Silver Lack territory, I feel Maxine go limp on my back. "Maxine!" I shout in the mind link hoping to wake her. It doesn't so I listen to her heartbeat to hear it beating slowly. I pick up my pace, thankful that Maxine somehow is still holding onto my neck tightly.

I then let out howls to get someone's attention. Soon I'm surrounded by guards and their all snarling at me. I stop quickly and I lay on my stomach, rolling Max off of me gently. The guards quickly notice their future Luna and rush to help her but I growl at them.

I shield her from the guards, I don't want anyone to touch her, only her mate. Not even a minute later a giant black wolf comes running up to the group. Dustin shifts quickly pulling on some shorts, while rushing over to Maxine. I back away from her so Dustin could get to her. Some shorts are thrown at me and I quickly shift back and put them on. As soon as I stand guards grab me and I growl at them.

Dustin Pov.

"Alpha a rogue just entered with the Luna." One of my guards mind links me. I instantly run out of my house and shift into the air as I step outside. I run as fast as I can go to them. I can already smell Maxine and her blood. When I finally reach them I shift back, pulling on shorts as I rush to her. I see Maxine lying on the ground, blood stained her stomach. And there is a larger wolf guarding her from my guards.

My wolf was about to growl at the rogue but when he sees me he backs away from Maxine.

I get on my knees and instantly pick Maxine's limp body up from the ground and look at her wounds. I frown instantly at the condition my mate is in. Blood is pouring out of a gash in her stomach. All I can do is stare at her. A growl snaps me out of it and I look up to see my guards restraining the wolf that has shifted back. When I realize the rogue is Eric, I growl at my guards.

"Release him. He's not a threat." I say in my Alpha tone and they instantly let him go. I carefully pick Maxine up bridle style. "Come with me." I say to Eric harsher then I intended because my wolf is on edge. All my wolf wants to do is tear apart everything in sight, but I keep reminding him that Maxine is hurt and needs help.

I start running through the forest, holding Maxine close to my body. I concentrate on her heartbeat that isn't as weak as before. I sigh in relief but that doesn't stop my running. A few minutes later I can hear footsteps behind me and soon Eric is by my side, glancing at Max with concern.

Soon we arrive at the pack doctor and I start shouting for one of the doctors. One of my most trusted doctors approaches us quickly. He quickly notices Maxine's wound. He motions me to follow him and I do. Dr.Tidwell leads me to a room and I lay Maxine on the bed, gently.

The doctor cuts open Maxine's shirt but stops when he reaches the chest area. He pulls the extra fabric of the shirt away from the wound and inspects it carefully. "The wound is very deep." Dr.Tidwell states as he gets out some cleaning supplies and begins cleaning it. "It seems to be healing slowly and her heart rate is going back to normal." He adds as he starts stitching up the wound that stretches across her stomach.

Once he finishes he turns to look at me but not in the eye. "She'll be fine in a couple of hours Alpha." Dr.Tidwell says with a smile as he bows to me and leaves the room. I hear someone behind me sigh in relief and I tense up, forgetting Eric was here.

"Where's the Demigod?" I ask glancing at him before looking back at my sleeping mate. "He's dead." Eric says and I relax a little. "Maxine and I killed him." He adds looking at her. "Did he do this to her?" I ask anger clear in my voice.

Eric sighs and shakes his head, I can feel the rage coming off his body. "A witch did it to her, I snapped her neck as soon as it happened. Then I brought Maxine here as fast as I could." Eric explains and I raise my eyebrows up when he said witch.

"Why was there a witch?" I ask and Eric glances at me. "The witch had made the Demigod a potion that would get Maxine pregnant, whether she loved him or not." He says hatred in his voice and I growl lowly. "The witch claimed that Max kill her love." He snorts with the shake of his head. I'm quiet for a while before replying. "How could someone love a monster like that?" I ask in disgust and Eric shrugs, also showing his disgust.

The room goes quiet and all I do is stare at my mate. I can't wait for her to wake up so I can hold her and never let go. I want to run my fingers through her soft, brown curls. And I want to passionately kiss her perfect, cherry lips all day. My wolf howls in agreement at my thoughts.

"Do you love her?" I ask Eric turning around to look at him. Eric looks up at me and seems a little taken back my question. "At first yes, I loved her so much I was hoping she would be my mate." Eric says and I growl but keep my wolf back. "But now I only love her as a sister nothing more." He finishes with a small smile and my wolf relaxes.

"Do you love her?" Eric repeats my question towards me. I look back at her and a smile tugs its way on my lips. "Of course I do, I've loved her since I met her." I reply as I lean down and kiss her forehead gently. "Just promise me you'll take care of her." Eric says and I nod glancing at him. "With my life." I say and when an Alpha says they'll put their life out for someone else, they mean it. "I promise."
