Untitled Part 2

It has been about two months since Will had returned to Chicago with his young daughter, the father and daughter were no longer living with Jay. Will had managed to get a decent two bedroom apartment near Jay in case Will had to take his daughter to him. It was also near the hospital he was about to be working at Gaffney Chicago Medical Hospital. It was also nearby a very good school, Luna would be starting Kindergarten within a year.

Will had registered Luna at the hospital daycare she'd stay there while he worked, if he ended up staying late he'd call Jay to pick her up and he'd call over from the district and take her back to his place until Will's shift was finished.

Within the couple of months, Jay has yet to even tell his team about his young niece. Will didn't mind people knowing. But he felt differently. If any criminals knew he had a young niece they wouldn't dare hesitate to use her to get to him. In the time he spent in Intelligence he made enemies, the whole team made enemies. If anyone dared touch his brother or his niece, it would cost them their life. Jay may have been the younger brother but he was fiercely protective of his family.

Before Will knew it, it was his first day at Chicago Med. They started him on day shifts for the time being. Having a four year old he never needed an alarm clock, he'd wake up every morning with Luna right there next to him either poking his nose or trying to hug him to wake him up.

But that morning she didn't, Will woke up and felt something was really off. Looking over at the alarm clock it was 6 am, his shift started in 2 hours. Luna should be awake, she wasn't in his room. That made the young father frown a bit as he got up and searched the room. No sign of his young daughter. He then went to see if she could still be asleep, her room was empty as her bed was all messed up.

Panic and worry quickly filled the young father as he ran out to get his phone, he nearly tripped over his own two feet. Jay had been over to help his brother get ready he heard his brother.

"You good bro?" Jay asked.

"Jay...Luna...not in...her room" Will breathed heavily, still panicking.

"I know. She's in the kitchen eating breakfast"

"Wha.."

The redhead stepped out in the living room area that was connected to the kitchen, his daughter was sure enough sitting at the table eating a bowl of cereal. Will had finally managed to settle down and relax.

"You know I'd never let anything happen to her man" Jay patted his shoulder.

"Sometimes I regret giving you that key. You show up early and unannounced half the time"

"Gotta make sure you and the little munchkin are ok. Go get ready for work I got her"

"Thanks man"

"Anytime"

Will had gone to shower and get ready for work, Jay went back to his niece. Luna was finishing her cereal.

"All done Uncle Jay" She showed her empty bowl to her uncle.

"Good job sweet girl, go make up your bed and get dressed" Jay told her.

The four year old had gone to her room and tried to make up her bed. Once that was finished she picked out her clothes, she grabbed a pink shirt that had LOL Dolls on it she grabbed the matching pink jeans she then got socks and her shoes.

The youngest Halstead had managed to put her clothes on right, however she had her shoes on the wrong feet. She grabbed her hair brush and two ponytails and took them out. Will was finally out of his shower and freshly shaved. He was wearing maroon scrubs, he had his coat in his bag and folded it up with his stethoscope. He grabbed his ID and clipped it onto his shirt. He managed to eat some of the stuff Jay made and drank some coffee.

Luna had come out; she was walking differently due to her shoes being on the wrong feet. Her long fiery red hair was all in waves and frizzy.

"Daddy, I need help," She said.

The young father had looked over and smiled, his daughter was the reason for the smile on his face. She was the main reason for his happiness.

"Come here sweetheart" He chuckled.

Going to her father she took a seat at the table, he took the brush and started to run the brush through her red curls that matched his. He brushed all the tangles from her curly locks till it was smooth; he then parted her hair and put her hair in pigtails and braided them. Jay looked on with a smile, Will glanced at him.

"What?" Will asked.

"Nothing," Jay says with a smile. "You're a natural"

"Had some practice"

Once Will had finished his daughter's hair he saw her shoes crooked and fixed them and tied them for her as she watched on. He saw the time and grabbed his and Luna's stuff. He picked his daughter up heading down, he was getting her strapped in the car seat. Jay put the bags from the ground into the car.

"Thanks man" Will looked at his brother.

"Not a problem. When should I pick the munchkin up?" Jay responded.

"6. I want her in bed no later than 8:30".

"Copy that"

Jay had headed off for work as did Will. Will wanted to make a good impression on his first day at the hospital. Luna sang the songs that played on the radio, the young father smiled as his heart fluttered. His little girl was his pride and joy.

After a short drive he made it to the hospital, he quickly went to take his daughter to the daycare. He had already registered her, he signed her in. The only one who could sign her out was himself and Jay. Luna looked around scared.

"Daddy, what's this place?" Luna said, hugging his leg.

"It's daycare. You're gonna stay here and learn, play, do all sorts of fun things while I work upstairs. I'll come check on you as much as I can" Will answered, moving a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Pinky promise" She held her pinky out.

He smiled and took his pinky finger hooking it with hers. "I pinky swear"

She kissed his cheek and he kissed her head. Once making sure his princess was alright he headed upstairs and put his stuff away in his locker and got mentally ready for the day. He put his coat on followed by his stethoscope. He went out and was met by a short older woman.

"Dr. Halstead, I'm Sharon Goodwin. Welcome to Chicago Med" Sharon said.

"Thank you, I look forward to being here," Will replied.

"Tell me about yourself, you have any family in Chicago"

"My dad lives here still, so does my younger brother Jay, he's a detective for the Chicago Police Department. And I have a four year old daughter, Luna"

He pulled his phone out to show her, the charge nurse, Maggie saw the picture as well.

"She is so adorable," Maggie said.

"Thank you, she is my pride and joy"

Another nurse, April came over to see what the fuss was about Luna, Will pulled his phone out and showed her a picture of his little girl.

"Oh my gosh she's beautiful" April spoke.

"Hopefully one day I'll introduce her to all of you"

They nodded and got back to work. It was a slow day not many patients, just as Will was about to take a break Jay rushed in following paramedics. Will froze when he saw the person on the gurney.

"Dad?"
