Pat Halstead was indeed surprised to see his oldest son having a child of his own. He never really saw either of his sons having children. This was a huge surprise. The oldest Halstead man had let his son and new granddaughter into the house.
When Will walked in he was hit with all sorts of memories of his childhood. His father hadn't changed a thing in years. The whole house was exactly the same.
"So a daughter" Pat started, breaking his son from his thoughts.
"Yeah, she's four. I had her back in New York" Will answered, sitting on the couch.
"Where's her mom?"
"She's not around"
Pat looked at his granddaughter as she ate quietly at the table, a very small smile formed on his face. "She looks like you're mom"
Will couldn't help but slightly choke up at that comment. It was true. When he looked at his daughter he couldn't help but see his mother in her. Pat then turned back to his oldest son.
"Why'd you come here?"
"For my daughter. I know things weren't the best after mom died and we stopped talking but I want Luna to know you. I want her to know her family. I'm learning as a father what I have to do I do for Luna. I want her to have a good life, I want her to have you and Jay around. And I want to be back in your life. I want my dad back"
"I think that can be arranged"
That had totally taken Will back. Was his father actually willing to change? He didn't think he would but maybe he would for Luna. Some parents that had rough relationships with their children always tried to be better for their grandchildren.
"Really?"
"Yes. I know I was a bad father and things went south after your mother died. I shouldn't have pushed you boys away and I regret it. I'd like another chance"
"I can definitely do that"
"Do what daddy?" Luna asked, coming in, sitting next to him.
"You all finished sweetheart?" He looked at her for a moment.
She nodded, some of her fiery hair swinging slightly. Pat smiled looking at them, they looked so much alike. The Halstead genes were strong. Will and Luna were practically twins.
"Son, why don't I watch her for you tonight?" Pat asked.
"Are you sure?"
"I am"
Will wasn't fully sure about this but it was a decent start and attempt to repair the broken relationship.
