Untitled Part 6

"You did what?!"

"Can you please not yell or scream, I just got this headache to go away"

Jay was shocked at what his brother had just told him, Luna was spending the night with their father. He rubbed his forehead as he drank some of his beer. Will looked at his brother.

"I know you don't like this but it's good for Luna to have a relationship with him. I have to be the bigger person for her and if being the bigger person means smoothing things over with dad then I'll do it. I want Luna to have better than we did"

The detective smiled over at his brother. "You're an amazing father and I'm sorry for constantly questioning your decisions, I have to realize your her father while I'm her uncle"

"Actually I wanted to talk to you about something. I want you to be Luna's godfather"

That had made Jay freeze in his spot. "You...what?"

"I want you to be Luna's godfather. I trust you with my life, I always have and always will. You're my brother, my best friend and there's no one I trust Luna with more than you. What do you say little brother?"

"I... I'd be honored. I won't let anything happen to her"

"I know you won't. Hell you're already like her own personal bodyguard"

"I am the best at what I do" He chuckled, teasing him.

Will had chuckled. "And that's why I picked you"

"I'm the godfather, who's the godmother?"

"I'm thinking between April or Erin. Erin because obviously you two are together and I trust her and I don't want her bouncing from your place to April. With April, Luna will have a registered nurse with her if she needs medical attention. I'm not saying you wouldn't but you freak out over the sight of needles"

"I do not"

"Says the guy who tried to bolt out of the doctors office when he had to get vaccines for school and to get blood drawn for his physical"

"That was only once"

"And let's not forget the fact that at one of your appointments when you tried to bolt you were held down by two nurses and a doctor"

"Fair point"

Will had chuckled and the two brothers had enjoyed the rest of their evening talking and joking.

Luna had stayed with her grandfather for at least a couple of days by this point, Pat was actually enjoying being a grandfather. He wasn't the best with his boys after his wife had died and spiraled. Now with Luna he was finding his happiness again.

On one fine sunny day he had taken his young granddaughter to the park, both his sons were at work. The older man had arrived at the park with his young granddaughter and let her go play, Luna ran to the playground and started climbing on the jungle gym.

Pat was ignoring the dizziness the whole time he was watching his granddaughter, his vision still blurry as he tried to keep an eye on her playing. He kept constantly rubbing his eyes trying to clear his vision. Luna was concerned for her grandfather just as she tried to get off the jungle gym her foot slipped and she fell off the jungle gym and landed on the ground hard.

A loud piercing scream tore from her throat, Pat went to get up only to collapse on the ground as well, his vision going dark and blurry. The last thing Pat had heard was his granddaughter crying out for him as she couldn't move from where she had fallen.
