“Jungkook? Is that you?”
He cracked one eye open, still managing to look unfairly good, even half-asleep.
Why does he have to be so damn magnificent?
He sat up, giving me a warm, almost sad smile, then opened his arms in silent invitation.
But for some reason, I stayed rooted to the spot.
“What are you… how did you even get in here?” was all I could manage.
He sighed, got to his feet, and pulled me into a hug.
He buried his face in my hair, inhaling softly. “I missed you.”
Don’t do this to me.
What churned in my stomach wasn’t butterflies — it was heavier, deeper, like something I couldn’t name. I didn’t want to let him go.
But he stepped back all too soon, settling on the edge of my bed.
“Don’t you have a party to host?" I asked, slipping my cool façade back on.
Even though a part of me didn’t want to.
“I do,” he said with a shrug. “But it was boring.”
“It’s your birthday, Jungkook. How can it be—”
He cut me off with a quick peck on the lips.
“You weren’t there, Cupcake.”
No. No.
Mina loves him.
MINA LOVES HIM!
I spun away toward the window, staring down at the streetlights to collect myself.
“How did you even get up here? And how do you know where I live?”
“I may have followed you once,” he admitted, looking way too smug for someone confessing to borderline stalking. “Figured I could climb the pipe if your window was open.”
“Pipe? Are you out of your mind? You could have—”
“There’s nothing I can’t do, babe,” he said with that infuriating smirk.
“Whatever. Just… leave.”
“Okay, first of all—rude,” he protested, pouting. “And second, it’s my birthday. Don’t throw me out.”
“My parents are downstairs,” I lied.
“Uh-huh.” He raised a brow. “They’re at your granny’s. Mina told me.”
