As Tae had mentioned before, college was suspended for a week— to ensure the students
safety, or at least that’s what they said.

It had already been a few days since Hana’s brutal murder, and yet the city still hadn’t stopped trembling.

Her face— pale, cold, lifeless— haunted every news channel in the country.

Every time I turned on the TV, they’d replay the same horrific footage, her body blurred but recognizable.

The same pair of half-open eyes, dark red and glassy. The same parted lips, blood seeping from the gaping wound in her abdomen, staining the floor beneath her. Her hands and legs twisted in unnatural angles that screamed of pain and final surrender.

And then came the newest update— the reporter’s voice flat, almost casual, as if reading a weather report.

> “The victim, Hana Park, was stabbed twelve times. Most of the wounds were shallow— signs of resistance. The final two stabs pierced through the heart, causing instant death.”

I froze. My stomach twisted, bile rising in my throat as the anchor continued,

> “Police suspect the murderer to be female.”

Female.

My head spun. I wanted to scream.

Every time Hana’s face flashed in my mind, every nerve in my body screamed one name—Sana.

Sana killed her. I knew it. Why can’t anyone else see that?

Or… what if it wasn’t her? What if it was someone closer— someone we all knew too well?

Ting!

A message popped up on my phone, snapping me out of my spiral.

JIMIN:
Hey Ara. We boys are leaving for the club. You wanna join us? It’s gonna be so lit.

I blinked at the screen for a moment before replying.

ME:
I don’t know. I can join... but how?

JIMIN:
Will pick you up. Just be ready within an hour. Cool?

ME:
Yeah... I guess.
(Seen)

I stared at the chat for a few seconds longer than necessary.
