The moment Ara ran away, feeling betrayed and rejected, my heart stopped. I took a step forward, ready to chase after her, when a firm hand landed on my shoulder.
I turned around to see my elder brother standing there, his expression calm yet filled with disappointment.
“Give her some space,” he said softly. “She needs it.”
“But I—Hyung, I…” My voice faltered.
I didn’t even know what I was trying to say anymore.
He shook his head, his tone steady but kind. “Trust me. The last person she wants to see right now is you. Let her breathe first. Then, when she’s ready, go give her your apology and your stupid explanation.”
His words sank deep. As much as it hurt to admit, he was right.
If I went after her now, I’d only make things worse.
I exhaled shakily, lowering my gaze. The night air was heavy, the silence between us stretching for a moment before he broke it by handing me his beer.
I shook my head.
He looked at me, eyebrows raised. “You’re refusing a drink?”
“No alcohol for me,” I muttered, almost to myself. “I’m driving my girl home."
For a second, he just stared at me— then smiled, slow and genuine.
“I like that. My little brother finally surrendered his heart to a woman.” He lifted his bottle in a quiet toast, took a sip.
The light caught the glass, distant music blending with the soft clink. I tried to smile, but my heart was somewhere else... out there with her.

I walked off to one corner of the party house, pushing through the massive crowd of wrecked humans banging their heads to the deafening EDM beats.
“Damn it. MOVE!” I shouted as they finally stumbled aside, giving me a narrow path to pass.
Taking a deep breath, I tried to pull myself together.
Why was I even overreacting?
I am not his girlfriend. I have no rights on him whatsoever.
