Quick note before we start: So, this Dream will also be a headcannon similar to Nightmare. Meaning, he can go shattered form if he's protective, angry, scared, etc. Sorry if you don't like that, but its what this will be to save my sanity-

How you met:

A gorgeous night it was. Stars shining, trees gently blowing in the wind. You were laying on some grass, just relaxing. The night was still fresh. You decided resting here was one of the safest ways you could be. Slowly, you let yourself drift off into sleep.

Dream world(pun intended lol-):

The meadow was calm. You were sitting in the tall grass, watching the clouds when a voice came from your right.

"Um, hello miss!"

You looked over, seeing a skeleton dressed in mostly gold, but what stood out to you was the crown on his skull.

"Hi! I'm Dream. Sorry if I scared you. May I sit down here?"

"Oh, sure..."

He sat down, relaxing beside you.

"You don't feel my aura... do you?"

That came out of nowhere.

"Wh-what? Um...... no, I don't think so... I feel exactly as I did before..."

"Okay, good..." Dream sighed. "I know it may be hard to believe, but- wait... have you heard of the tale of the tree of feelings?"

"Oh, yes. The two brothers who fought after one was jealous of the other-"

"Okay, okay, enough detail... But yes, um... I'm one of them... Dream... the gold apple protector..."

Your eyes widened, shock all over your features. But it faded to a smile.

"I'm glad I get to meet you in person.... so, you are visiting my dreams, right?"

"Yes. Yours was the most peaceful and... I wanted to see if any humans could resist my aura and.... maybe like me for who I am... not..... what I provide for them... And I know, it may sound rude of me but.... When you feel like people only are addicted to your aura that makes them feel good...... not you yourself..... It... It hurts....."

You nodded, "Yep... as an outcast I can understand.... was always the one asked by my friends if they could borrow stuff from me and then when I refused threatened our friendship..... It hurt.... But I'm used to it-"

"Wait, you're what?"

"Used to it...?"

"No one should have that normalised to a point of being used to it!- um... here... let's stay together until the dream ends..... I can be here for you so you won't be alone..."
