The football game a few days ago didn't exactly go as expected but thank god Tyreek has been my rock. He has always had a big heart and I am so happy I ran into him a few weeks ago, it has been good rekindling our relationship and playing catch up.
"What do you mean you're not coming? We talked about this yesterday?" I ask into the phone with Tyreek on the other line.
"I'm not coming to your place to watch yet another chick flick, can't we meet up at Enzo's instead for a pizza?" He asks and I contemplate his request, was it bitterness I heard in his voice?
"But why?" I genuinely wonder.
"We have watched movies every night the past week, I thought we could benefit from a change.."
"Do we have to do Enzo's?" I ask, defeated, I have never been a fan of that place.
"Yes, meet me there at six and we can grab something to eat" he says and we say our goodbyes and hang up.
I guess I should get up then and make myself presentable and change out of my sweats and put some mascara on. I was more dressed for chilling in my room but since that doesn't work for Tyreek, even though we agreed on it yesterday, there's not much I can do.
Since it's some time after five I better get going so I make a quick change but decide against mascara at the last minute. Feels unnecessary for tonight's plans.
Enzo's isn't too far from the dorms, it's a nice fifteen minute walk and since Tyreek is coming straight from practice I'm meeting him there so no reason to wait any longer in my room.
If it wasn't for the chill November air I would enjoy the walk after being stuck in my room all day with my nose deeply buried in textbooks but the chill in the air is making it much harder to enjoy.
I spot Enzo's when I round the last corner and see that Tyreek is sitting inside in a booth by the large windows facing the street. I enter the small restaurant as the bell rings over my head making Tyreek lift his face from his phone and notice my presence.
"Finally, what took you so long? I'm starving!" I look at my clock and roll my eyes at him for his silly outburst.
"Such a drama queen, it's one minute past six" I say and shake my head at his silly behaviour and slide into the booth on the opposite side of him.
"I took the liberty and ordered when I came, I really am starving and need food asap right now"
"No problem with me but you know we could just as well have had pizza at my place for the movie, don't get why we have to come here?"
He shifts in his seat like he is uncomfortable and says nothing. I look at him now more curiously and notice that he looks kind of stressed but I can't for the life in me figure out why.
"What's going on here?" I ask him and look him deep in the eyes, or rather try to. He is avoiding my eyes like a little toddler.
"Tyreek.." I say and that finally gets him to speak after he lets out a huge sigh.
"Okay, don't take this the wrong way"
"Why would I do that?!" I interrupt him but he gives me a look telling me to let him speak and not interrupt him so I pretend to seal my lips and throw the key away. That gets a small smile out of him before he continues.
"I really have enjoyed spending time with you but I'm going to be blunt here, you need your friends back"
"I have my friend right here, right now" I say, I don't really get where he is going with this.
