End of april

I can't believe we are actually here for this and that Mac has made it this far. To declare eligible for the draft is one thing but being invited to attend the draft on site is an honour. Everyone knew that Mac had it in him to go high in the draft, no one had expected this much buzz and excitement around him.

"This is so exciting!" Olivia happily squeals beside me in excitement. She has been trying to calm Ella in all of this but Ella's lack of knowledge is proving to be a great disadvantage in these kinds of situations. Up until a month ago she still believed that 'the draft' was a team and not an event.

"Babe, calm down or you will explode" I say to her but of course she isn't listening to me, just like always.

"Dax, I love you but no way I am calming down, we are at the freaking draft!!" She is bouncing up and down from her seat and I shake my head at her while laughing.

If Olivia is this excited over Mac's draft then I am afraid of how she will be when it's my time next year.

"And for the sixth pick in the NFL draft Pittsburgh Steelers select Mac Johnsson, Quarterback, Michigan State University" the commissioner declares through the speakers and our whole booth erupts in a scream.

"Wow man! Sixth!"

"Great work dude!"

"Perfect match!"

Everyone is eager to congratulate him and give their praises as he is getting up and hugging everyone. A cameraman is here to record all the action and he manages to get the two sweethearts on tape as Ella congratulates Mac with a big kiss before he lets him go so he can enter the stage.

I manage to give him a slap on the shoulder as he passes us but I have to keep an eye on Olivia so she doesn't fall and break a leg from all the jumping she is currently doing in her high heels.

I put my arm around her and pulls her down with me on the sofa so she can catch her breath as Mac is heading towards the stage.

"Oh my god, this is so cool! I can't believe it, he went as the sixth Dax, can you believe it!?" She is grinning from ear to ear and it's beautiful to see the pure joy she feels for her friends.

"I know, it's amazing" I say in a calm voice back at her.

"And you are even better so you will be even higher!" she has a look on her face that means she is far in the future, making plans and backup plans for everything.

A few months ago I was so sure that I would never see that expression again and I was so sure it never would have been with me she was making those plans but I couldn't be happier that it has changed.

I bask in the happiness and joy vibrating from everyone here and enjoying the vibe in the whole building. This event is massive and they have really spared no expenses. I look around me and feel so blessed to call these people my friends and that's something I will always cherish.

I spot Ella sitting by herself now that Mac had to leave us, she looks to be close to tears, and not the happy tears. It looks like someone stole her candy.

"Hey, what is it?" I ask her and tug at Olivia to get her attention and help with this.

"Woah, Ells, what's up?" Olivia immediately dives right in and almost jumps over me in order to get to her as fast as possible.

"Nothing.." she mumbles and it's evident how hard she is trying to hold back her tears and she is only partly successful and a single tear falls.

"No, don't cry.. This is a good thing" Olivia tries to sooth her.
