I wish things were different

I woke up as the sun rose and began shining on our ever so messy dorm room. Harriett was running around frantically

Harriett - Finally your awake! We have Defence against the Dark Arts in half an hour hurry up!

Maia - Harriett we don't have Defence against the Dark Arts on a Friday?

Harriett - It's a special class, Dumbledore brought Lupin back for it so it will be good

She was dressed from head to toe while me and Maia dragged ourselves out of bed and slipped on our robes. I brushed my hair mindlessly, trying to think about what happened last night. Shit. My eyes widened as I realised what was happening tonight. 

I quickly put on my shoes and turned to Harriett 

Rose - I will meet you at Defence Against the Dark Arts, there's something I need to do first 

I began my journey out of the common room and down to the dungeons. I knocked

- Enter 

Severus said in a low voice. I walked in, he was huddled over a stack of potions essays. I could tell he had been there all night. The bags under his eyes were bigger than usual and he looked paler than parchment. I sat down next to him, I could see the worry and the guilt in his eyes 

Rose - Severus 

I took his hands in mine and looked up at his dark pools 

Severus - I- I'm scared Rose 

Rose - I know, me too. But it has to be done 

I had thought about it a lot, and I knew that Severus couldn't exactly get out of doing it. 

Severus - Will you be there, when it happens?

Rose - If you want me to be 

Severus - Yes Please 

I could see the pain in his eyes, I would have done anything to stop him feeling like this. The clock ticked to 9 o'clock. I bit my lip as I thought about my next move 

Severus - Go 

I furrowed my brow at him 

Rose - I know you have class, I'll be fine here, please, go 

I gave him a kiss on the cheek and rose from my chair 

I began walking faster than usual, I loved Professor Lupin's lessons, I was deep in thought when I heard a voice behind me

- Miss Mcgonagall, may I have a word?

I spun around, and there he was. He looked paler too, his eyes seemed less bright and twinkly than usual and his robed hung limp off his body. 

Rose - Yes of course Dumbledore 

I sat down in his office as he offered me a lemon drop

Rose - Why have you called me here Professor 

Dumbledore - Listen Rose, I know what Severus has told you. And I also know that you two have become extremely close. 

Rose - Well I-

Dumbledore - Rose, Severus is the happiest he has been in years. Severus has always been a quiet, solitary man 

Rose - Yes 

Dumbledore - But I believe, you two belong together. 

I couldn't help it, tears began filling my eyes. Dumbledore had always been a sort of grandfather figure to me. I began crying 

Rose - Is it true Professor

I knew it was, I just desperately wanted it to be not. 

Dumbledore - It is Rose 

I began crying now. Like really crying. Dumbledore rose from his chair and pulled me into an embrace 

Rose - I'll miss you terribly Professor 

Dumbledore- Me too Rose 

And we stood there for what felt like forever. I felt him crying too
