21 - Aether

"You know with all that power, I thought you'd hit harder." Thor mocks before sending his hammer towards Malekith, sending him into one of the many library pillars. "You know," I say as I shake off the rubble, "The Queen isn't going to be happy about the property damage." Thor smiles as I make my presence known. "What are you doing here?" He asks. "Well, potential big mass of energy," I say pointing to the Aether, "Energy manipulator." I say pointing to myself. "No brainer really." I joke and Thor laughs. "You got this?" I ask and he nods as I join Selvig and Jane. "Who are you?" Jane asks, "An old friend, just get back to what you were doing." I demand as I watch Thor battle the dark elves with ease. "The Convergence will be in full effect in seven minutes." Selvig explains. "That just means we have to keep Malekith busy for eight." Jane states as she prepares the device. "Okay, you might wanna hold on to something." My brows furrow and she turns the dial causing some of the dark elves to vanish. 

"That is awesome! How did you do that?" I hear and turn to see a young dark haired woman next to a tall, lanky man. "Well, gravitational fields interact with the weak spot between worlds creating-" Jane begins to explain but is interrupted by the woman, "Ooh! Get the guy with the sword!" I laugh, "What's her name?" I ask. "Darcy Lewis." He answers and I nod. "Give me her number after this, she could be useful." I command and he nods slyly. Jane uses the device again and accidentally causes Darcy and the man to disappear. "Oops." She exclaims. "Let's go." I say and the three of us head into the library where the members of the public are now crowded around the windows. "What are you all doing? You need to get out of here! Now!" Jane yells. Someone who I presume to be a student turns, phone in hand, "You're joking, right? That's Thor out there waving his hammer around and everything!" Just as his sentence finishes Thor and Malekith are transported to god knows where. 

"What are you doing?" Selvig asks Jane as we run through the library grounds. "My signal's lost connection." She explains. A group of dark elves are chasing after us and I throw one of my knives in their direction, hitting one of them square in the eye. "Jane! Come on!" Selvig prompts impatiently. Suddenly Darcy and the man reappear, liplocked. "Darcy?" Jane asks. "Jane!" Darcy explains. She lets go of the man and he falls to the ground. "Ian?" Selvig asks. "Selvig!" Ian squeaks. "Dr Scott?!" I mumble and shake my head. All of a sudden Mjolnir appears and flies past us. Malekith reappears as the realms come closer to converging, he readies the Aether to bring forth the darkness. "We're out of time." Jane mutters before rushing ahead. "Jane. Jane!" I yell running after the scientist. Thor rushes out of the train station as the Aether begins to take over. I feel the energy and gasp, "What is it?" Jane asks worriedly. "That thing is evil." I whisper.

"We're too late." Jane complains to Thor. "The Convergence is at its peak." Selvig explains, Thor looks to the device in his hand, "Can those things stop him?" He asks. "Not from here." Selvig explains. "We can't get close enough." Jane adds. Thor looks from the spears to me, "We can." He promises. Thor and I take a spear each and push through the Aether. "Malekith!" He booms, his voice practically vibrating. Malekith turns to face Thor. "Who's that?" He asks as he spots me. I wave, "Moral support." I say and Malekith turns back to the god with a dismissive head shake. "Darkness returns, Asgardian. Have you come to witness the end of your universe?" He threatens. Thor remains poised, "I've come to accept your surrender." Thor throws his spear at Malekith and he catches it. Jane uses the device to make his arm disappear and I throw the other spear at him. He makes the mistake of catching it again and his other arm disappears. "He looks like a shit scarecrow." I laugh. Malekith frowns, "You think you can stop this? The Aether cannot be destroyed." He warns,  very doom and gloom. "No." Thor agrees, "but you can."

Thor runs at Malekith as he summons Mjolnir, he uses the force to throw Malekith into his ship and the two are transported again. This time, only Thor returns, except he's unconscious. Jane and I rush over as Malekith's ship begins to crumble. "Thor! No!" Jane yells before grabbing Thor's arm and trying to pull him away. I create an energy field to hold off the ship to help Jane but Thor is too heavy for a human to lift. I fall to my knees as my energy dwindles. Jane throws herself on top of Thor as I collapse, along with the ship. Selvig clearly was one step ahead as the ship is teleported and he rushes over to me. "You good Vik?" He questions. I sit up, "Yeah. Fine." I say as Thor becomes conscious. A few hours later Thor and I are stood next to each other, "When do you need to get back to America?" He asks. I look up at him, "The jet is booked for two days time." I explain, "I wanted to see London again." Thor nods and looks down, "Wanna see Asgard?" He asks and I smile. 

"Is that even a question?!"
