Based on the current amount of light, I'd say we're going through the tunnel inside the mountain that leads directly to the Capitol. We stand in silence as the car rattles back and forth on the tracks, waiting for the sunlight to return and eager for the minute the Capitol pops into view in the window. Even in the darkness of the train, I'm able to make out Katniss's worried face. I want so badly to rub her back in the small, little circles my father had used to calm me when I was just a toddler, but I know that she'd become even more skittish if I startled her. Just then, an unexpected ray of sunshine darts through the window. Katniss and I can't help ourselves; we rush over to it, too impatient to wait.

We stare in awe at the Capitol. It's beautiful, I think. There are hundreds of people lined outside of the train in their colorful clothing, cheering for us as we slow, preparing to enter the station. As the Capitol's rainbow buildings glisten in the sunlight, jealousy nags at me. They have all of this but can't spare anything for the Districts? I ignore the aggravating thought as I wave out the window to the gleeful Capitol citizens. I force a smile. The best way to receive sponsors is to adore them, so I know this gives me my best chance at survival in the arena. And as long as I'm alive, Katniss will be too. I turn away for a moment, giving my face a break from smiling, when out of the corner of my eye, I can see Katniss staring at me with disgust.

"Who knows?" I say, shrugging. "One of them may be rich," My comment cleans her face of any emotion, and I'm unable to tell what she's thinking.

But whatever she's thinking, it can't be good.
