Chapter 16

Matt's P.O.V
I loved Emma, I really did. I understand that she's depressed and takes thing a little more seriously. Was I overreacting? Was I a little too harsh? Will she harm herself? Did she still love me? Those were the questions I asked myself, but I was most afraid of Cameron. Would she spill to Cameron that I broke up with her?

A: "Dude what's up?"
Me: "I broke up with Emma."
C: "Why would your do that?"
Me: "I don't know."
J: "Well you better come up with a damn good reason because Cameron's gonna kill you."
M: "Do you think she'll cover for me?"
N: "Hell nah"
JJ: "Dude you broke her heart."
My phone started ringing. It was Cameron.
Me: "Oh shit, it's Cameron."
C: "Better get your stories straight. Good luck."
I ran into the other room.
Me: "Hello?"
Cam: "Hey man, its Cameron."
Me: "Hey what's up."
Cam: "I was just calling to see if you were alright."
Me: "Why?"
Cam: "Cuz Emma broke up with you."
Me: "Oh Yeah, I'm a little upset. She was a little harsh. She said that this whole Max and Alex thing would blow over. I disagreed, and we fought for about an hour."
I covered my mouth with my hand. What am I doing. I thought.
Cam: "Well I hope you feel better. I'll go talk to her. Would you like me to tell her anything."
Me: "No."
I bit my finger really hard.
Cam: "Okay well see Ya later."
Me: "Bye."
I hung up.
"So." They said.
"She covered for me. Cameron said that she broke up with me."
"You got lucky." Carter said.
"What did you say?" The Jacks asked.
"I told him everything I said vice versa.
I feel horrible." I said.
"You should, imagine how she's feeling." Nash said.
"She once told me that you were the love of her life."
"Then how come she couldn't say I love you back to me."
"Is that what this is about?" Carter asked.
"Yeah." I said.
"Matt she just covered for you. You could be in the hospital right now, instead she's gonna take the beating that you deserve." Jack G said.
"If you ask me that's a million times better than an I love you is." Carter said.
"What do you mean?" I said.
"She doesn't want to see you get hurt, that's why she covered." Jack G said.
"How could I have been so stupid. I need to call her and apologize." I said.
"Don't call her Jack G is gonna call her in an hour." Carter said.
An hour later.
Jack called her. He put it on speakerphone.
"Hey Emma its Jack."
"Hey." She sounded like she had been crying.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"I guess." She said.
"Your not okay are you." He said.
"Not really, the guy of my dreams just broke up with me, and what he doesn't realize is how much I love him."
"Why did you cover for him?"
"Because I love him unconditionally. I don't want to see him get hurt another time especially by Cameron."
"Emma did you hurt yourself?" He asked.
"It's just you on the phone right Matt isn't around."
He hesitated. "Yeah it's just me."
"Then I did." She said with sadness
"Emma." He said.
"I'm sorry I was so upset."
"I thought we through all your razors away." Jack G said.
"I got scissors from the drawer. Please don't tell Cameron." She said.
"How many times?" Jack said.
"4 times." She said.
"Oh my god." I said.
"Matt?! Jack you lied you said you were alone."
"I'm sorry." He said.
"I hate you Matt. I shouldn't have covered for you." She said.
"Babe I'm sorry."
"Don't ever call me that again."
"Why don't you go make some more cuts." I said immediately covering my mouth.
"That is the meanest thing you have ever said to me."
The line went dead.
"Why would you tell her to do that. You know she takes things litterally. You blew it dude. You really did this time."
Jack G left. I buried my head in my hands. What have I done.
