Chapter 8

Emma's P.O.V
30 minutes later the doctors came in and told him he was free to leave.
I helped him up and left the room so he could get dressed. Five minutes later he came out and we walked to his moms car. Matt and I sat in the back of their SUV with Ryan.
So.... Emma when is you birthday? Kristen asked.
November 10th 1997. Which makes me 17. I said.
After the quiet awkward car ride, we entered his house.
His house was pretty big.
This is a beautiful house you have. I said.
Thanks. Matt said.
Why don't you two go upstairs to Matt's room until dinner is ready. Mrs. Espinosa said.
We walked upstairs to his bedroom. He opened his door and we walked in. His walls were a nice shade of blue.
I'm gonna go take a shower. He said.
Okay.
He went in to the bathroom and had a shower. I sat on his desk chair playing on my phone to pass the time.
I heard the door open I turned around to see Matt only in his boxers.
I stared at his 6 pack.
I left my clothes on the bed. He said.
He leaned down for a kiss I pulled him down onto the bed. I put my hands n his abs and kissed him. About 5 minutes later his mom knocked on the door. Dinner! She yelled. Okay be down in a minute. We said.
Matt grabbed his clothes and pants and we walked downstairs.
I sat between him and his sister.
Do your parents know your hear. His dad asked.
Dad. Matt said.
Signalling him that, that question was off limits.
My parents died a few weeks ago. I replied back.
Emma I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked. He replied.
No it's fine. I said.
I felt Matt's hand on my knee.
His mom brought the food out on plates. We were having spaghetti and meatballs.
I cut my spaghetti and started to eat.
Mrs. Espinosa this is amazing.
Thanks. She said.
I finished eating and put my dinner plate away. Matt and I went up to his bedroom.
He put on Insidious.
Matt this is extremely scary. I said.
I'm right here. He said.
He turned on the movie and turned off the lights.
20 minutes into the movie I was sitting on Matt, almost in tears.
Matthew I need to go to the bathroom.
Can you come with me I'm scared. I said giving him puppy eyes.
Fine. He said. We got up and he showed me to the bathroom.
I finished using the bathroom and opened the door Matt wasn't there. I went into his room he wasn't thief either. Matt. I said. Are. You. There. I said scared.
I felt someone press there hands on my shoulders I turned around to see someone with the mask. I screamed and fell to the floor crying.
He turned on the lights.
It was only Matt.
Matt that wasn't funny. I said.
I heard foot steps coming near his room. Is everyone okay. Mrs. Espinosa said. Yeah. She's fine. He said.
I slowly got up and grabbed Matt.
Matthew Lee what did you do to her. His mother said.
Nothing it was a joke. He said.
Matt she's crying. Kristen said.
I'm okay. I said.
I scared her. That's all. He said.
Don't do it again. Mrs. Espinosa sternly.
Yes mom. He said.
His mom and sister left.
I went and sat on the bed.
Hey babe I'm sorry. I didn't think it would scare you that much. He said.
It's fine. I said. He came and sat beside me. Is everything okay at home? He said. Yeah everything is fine. I said.
No more cutting. He said.
Not today. I said.
Matt I gotta go home.
Noooo please stay. He said.
I can't I told Cameron I would be home.
I went downstairs and said goodbye to his family.
Emma why don't you stay over we have an air mattress downstairs you could sleep in Matt's bed and he can sleep on the mattress. His mom suggested.
Please. Matt mouthed.
Okay. Just let me text Cameron. I said.

He said it's okay.
Okay Matt go get it the air mattress. Mrs. Espinosa said.
Matt and I went down to the basement and found the mattress. He brought it up the stairs and put it in his bedroom.
He went into the closet and got pillows and blankets.
I borrowed a sweatshirt and sweatpants which were way to big.
You look so cute. He said.
Thanks. I said.
I hopped into his bed and tried to sleep but I couldn't.
Matt. I said.
Yeah babe. He said.
I can't sleep. I'm scared. I said.
It was just a movie Emma it's okay. He said.
Can you sleep with me. I said.
Move over. He said.
He stood up and laid beside me.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my head.
Go to sleep. He said.
I held on to him and buried my head into his chest.
My eye lids felt heavy and I fell asleep.
