That is not my art

Nico POV

My eyes widened at Will's question. What if he was homophobic. He would hate me and I wouldn't even have him as a friend.

Or he could be fine with me being gay, but he might spread it through the whole school. Even if he accidentally did.

I found myself fidgeting with the skull ring that Bianca gave to me.

"Umm... I'm straight," I responded.

I swear I could have seen a glimpse of sadness in his eyes. But it disappeared quickly.

"Okay, I trust you so......I'm gay," Will said.

"You.....you're......?" I started to say and he nodded his head. I was shocked, but I also felt guilty. He trusted me with his secret and I didn't trust him.

"How many people know?" I asked.

"Just my family and now you," he responded.

We sat in a semi-awkward silence before Will finally spoke up.

"Okay what's your favorite animal and why?"

"A Tawney Owl because the Greeks believed it had a mythical association with death." I looked at Will. "What about you?"

"Umm I like parrots because er—I just like them I don't know," he chuckled.

I loved his smile. It just gleamed with happiness. I smiled back at him.

"You should smile more," Will suggested, which made me scowl.

We just stared into each other's eyes for a few minutes.

"Come downstairs boys, it's time for dinner," Naomi announced from the first floor.

Will was first to get up off the bed. He reached out his hand to help me up, but I quickly swatted it away. A frown formed on his face but it soon disappeared. I hated physical contact.

We walked down the stairs.

"Hey Naomi, umm thank you so much for having me over, but I'm actually gonna head out and eat dinner with my family tonight."

"Okay, but just know that you're always welcome here," she said genuinely.

I smiled at her response and walked to the front door with Will trailing behind.

"Mom, I have to drive Nico back to his house," Will said.

"Okay honey."

We got into the car and I gave him directions to my house. Other than that, the drive was silent.

After about 10 minutes, we reached my house.

"Woah," was all Will managed to exclaim. My house was pretty big. It kinda looked like a haunted mansion.

"Okay well, I'll jot everything down that we talked about so I can write about it for English class," Will told me.

"K, Ima just go now I guess." And then I walked to the front door before waving goodbye. Will drove off. Gods why am I so awkward. I really need to get better at social interaction.

I walked into the house and heard a
piercing scream.

Hey guys. Sorry for the late update. I had some crazy stuff going on. But anyways make sure to comment on the plotline and how I can write better. Have a great day!
