The car ride to school was silent. I wasn't even in the mood to blast music so loudly that Hazel would scream at me to turn it down. I would never admit this to anyone, but I honestly felt like crying. I just didn't know what would happen the rest of my years at Goode high school. What if no one finally accepts me for being who I am? What if I'm bullied even more just because of my sexuality? What if Will breaks up with me over the pressure? "What if... No no no. Stop it, Nico. Don't worry about the what ifs!

"You doing alright?" Hazel asked, finally breaking the silence.

"Yeah, I'm okay."

"Nico?"

"What?"

"You know you can tell me anything, right? I'm your sister and you need to know that I'll always be there for you."

"Yes, I know. And it means a lot to me," I tell her meaningfully.

Hazel parks the car in her usual spot. We walk to the main doors. But I halt in front of the entrance. I watch as Hazel walks in and meets up with Frank.

Okay Nico, just take a deep breath in, and out.

I cross the threshold into the familiar school building.

As expected, eyes dart to me. I look down and pull my hood over my head, avoiding everyone's gazes. I walk through the halls to my locker and return certain books to it while also retrieving some.

A few moments later, the bell rings. Not able to find my math book, I dig through my messy locker. I finally find it and start walking to my first class of the day.

"Hey, Nico!"A familiar female voice shouts from behind me. Piper. Oh no, not her again, I thought.

Piper catches up with me as I walk to my destination. "What?" I spat, not facing her.

"Nico, I know we got off on the wrong foot, but I was hoping maybe you could give me another chance?"

I scoff at her stupidity. "Yeah, that's gonna be a "no".

"Please, Nico? I know I was really rude before and I understand why you refuse, but can you find it from the bottom of your heart to give me a second chance?" Piper pleaded.

I roll my eyes but grudgingly give in. "Fine, whatever."

"Thank you so much! So do you want to come to my house after school to hang out? That way we can talk to find more stuff about each other."

"Sure, I guess."

"Okay great! After school, I'll drive you to my house." And with that, Piper began walking down the halls away from me, but not before flashing me a big, bright smile.

What have I gotten myself into?
