The next morning Caroline was locked in the den between her and Klaus' room, Davina and Kol were going to take the kids to a carnival, Klaus was painting in the attic where Davina's art studio was and Patti was attempting to stick her nose in places it didn't belong.

*Knock knock*

"Come in, girls!" Caroline yelled so the twins could hear her through the thick wooden door that lead into her bedroom.

"Hey mom" Josie said quietly attempting not to break Caroline's focus.

Caroline was sitting on an oversized leather chair with a large stack of journals to her left and a smaller stack of them to her right. She had a journal in her hand and a pad of paper in her lap with a pen in her mouth.

"Did you two eat?" Caroline asked without looking up at them.

"Yes. Here, Klaus told me to bring you this. He said he didn't want to break your concentration and something about painting for metaphorical time? Does that make sense to you mom?" Josie asked handing Caroline a thermos of blood.

Caroline looked up at Josie and took the thermos smiling and then nodded remembering the conversation they had while watching the painter in the quarter on the day he died.

"So what have you found?" Lizzie threw herself down on a long leather couch picking up a book covered with dust making a nasty face at it.

"Well I seem to be getting more information from these than I have the entire two years I've been searching. I've only gotten through these three journals, but Patti was thorough with her notes and thoughts and memories even."

"That's right. I wrote things down as they came to me, in case you're wondering why everything is out of order." Patti stated leaning against the doorway coming from Klaus' room looking around the den.

"If you're looking for Klaus he's painting somewhere." Caroline spoke, breaking Patti's focus.

"Is that what he meant when he told me he was going to live out a metaphor?" Patti snarked.

"Yeah. Hey, what does the entire coven dying have to do with your magic getting stronger?" Caroline inquired.

"Keep reading. Anyways, Kol wants to know if he can take your kids to the carnival in town. He asked me to tell you Davina is going too, he will feed them lunch and dinner, and you're going to Rory's Red Pub tonight."

"Thanks for your help. Tell him yes to the carnival and no the pub. Bye now. Also, when you inevitably go see Klaus will you let him know I need to talk to him?" Caroline looked back down and went to reading again.

Patti's mouth was opened with shock. She looked over at the twins who were both looking at her with smug smiles. She motioned her head as to meet her in the hall and left using the doorway in Klaus' room.

"Well, mom I guess we're going to the carnival. Love you." Josie expressed before exiting the room.

"Yeah, love you mom. See you later." Lizzie added walking out right behind Josie.

"Love you too. Be safe, have fun." Caroline replied without looking up.

Josie and Lizzie walked over to Patti who was sitting on a bench in the hallway smoothing out her long bright yellow sundress. And fixing her naturally volumized hair. Until she noticed the girls walked towards her.

"What do you want, adulterer?" Lizzie snarked while crossing her arms over her chest.

Patti smiled and stood up. "I'm not an adulterer. I wanted to talk to you girls to let you know something about our coven. Yes, the coven is all technically dead, but because you two lived means the coven lived. I know because of that the merge will happen. I can't think of a way off the top of my head to make that stop, but I felt like you two deserved the truth."
