When the private jet finally landed and everyone was loaded into a large, black SUV, Caroline's phone had been buzzing non-stop. Questions from Ric about what to keep and what to trash, Matt telling her each weird experience he had with Rebekah as it happened, and texts from Rebekah about why she wasn't warned about Matt.
Caroline was scrolling through her messages trying to answer back as fast as she could, but she was getting insanely frustrated. She threw her head back against the head rest on her seat and released a deep sigh.
Klaus looked over at her and felt bad because there was absolutely nothing he could do to help. He reached over and held her hand trying to provide her at least some comfort. She looked up smiling at him. In 20 minutes their vacation was officially over and they would have to deal with their problems head on.
Caroline let everyone in the car know the plan for the afternoon. They needed to pack everything up today and put things in storage and also move things into the Mikaelson mansion. For someone who thrived on order and control, she felt a large sense of chaos and worry.
As they pulled up to Caroline's house there were two moving trucks that were still completely empty, the yard was empty except for the 4 cars in the driveway and parked in front of the house, and the front door was open. Klaus opened his door and helped the kids out on his side and then went around to open Caroline's door for her. She took a deep breath and exited the car.
When they walked in the house it was awkwardly quiet. Ric was sitting on a small stool in front of one of the bookshelves with random stacks of things piled around him, Rebekah was sitting on a bar stool at the kitchen island drinking straight from a bottle of wine, Marcel was in the kitchen packing things away in a box, Matt was no where to be seen, and she could hear Roman somewhere upstairs.
Caroline sighed loudly so that everyone could hear her. The place was chaos and at this rate they'd never be out in time. Matt walked downstairs with a closed box in his hands and stopped when he saw Caroline.
Klaus walked over and stood next to her placing his hand on the small of her back. "Are you going to give them their orders, love?" he whispered to her quietly.
"Um... hi everyone. Thanks for coming and helping out. I really appreciate this. I do have tasks in mind for everyone, so make sure to listen so we can get this over with. Alright, there are two moving trucks. One for storage and one for Klaus' house. I don't care which is which, just make sure they stay organized. Josie and Lizzie your task is your room. Come find me when you're done and don't be in there all day." she pointed at the girls.
Lizzie and Josie both nodded and walked away to handle the job they were given. Caroline looked around until her gaze settled on Hope.
"Hope, you and Klaus tackle my mom's room. Neither of you were super close with her, so sentimental things won't get to you like they would everyone else."
Hope and Klaus nodded and headed upstairs to pack up the master bedroom. When they walked away she looked at Matt and gave him a sweet smile.
"Matt, you and Ric handle this area. Honestly, you can put all of this on the storage truck, except for the pictures. I'm taking all of them with me."
"Cool." Matt said as he joined Ric at the bookshelf.
Caroline walked over to Marcel and Rebekah in the kitchen.
"Do you hate me?" she asked Rebekah.
"A heads up would have been nice." She said finishing off the bottle of wine.
"Yeah, that was Klaus... What about you? Are you feeling weird?" she asked Marcel.
"No. I don't even know the guy. He seems nice though, so not Rebekah's type. Plus, we're married. She can't leave me very easily." He said kissing the top of Rebekah's head.
