"There's no way out now, Hayes." He grinned devilishly, "We always knew how this would end."

"N-no!" She stuttered, hearing the crashing waves 400ft below her grow louder and louder as she backed up. She would never give up, not now not ever. For this world was her home and she was it's protector. Nobody would change that - not even him.

The tall young man took slow, scary strides toward her, "You look so pretty with that broken expression. How cute. Once again, I know you will forgive me." He was getting closer and closer and the girl had little land left to back up onto, "I know you'll keep forgiving me over and over, even when this world is burned." He spat sharply.

Suddenly the girl's heel dipped signalling that she had reached the cliffs edge and her heart sank. Was this it? Was this the end?

He had gotten so close by then, she could see the burn marks on his face and clothes, he had been fighting for so long. Seeing him in such pain broke her.

Soon enough he stood at her toes, towering over her small frame and looking intensely at the fear in her eyes.

The smell of coal radiated off him and his eyes had gone a void like black - there was nothing left of him.

The cold face he mustered melted into a soul aching smirk.

"You're so pathetic." he said as he placed a hand on her cheek gently, "did you really think I could have loved you? Someone so desperate? Someone so fragile? Did I break your heart? Good. Cry for me."

And she did, like always. She cried in his hand, hoping that he would never let go.

The burned hand that cupped her cheek trailed down to her neck and he gave the area a tight squeeze, briefly cutting off her air flow.

"I-I never loved you." She choked out. The words cutting through him like a knife.

His hand trailer further to her chest as he flattened out his palm. Leaning down to right by her ear, he whispered softly, "It's a shame you never learned how to fly."

And then he pushed.
