"Why'd you help him?"
I wasn't a big fan of Higgs, don't get that mixed up, but I needed to help him. I couldn't stand the sharp cries escaping from his lips, the tears falling from his eyes, the pain in his voice.
I tell Mrs. Sprout to go get Madam Pomfrey, and I send a couple of students to go get towels and water from the bathroom. They scatter off as I place my two fingers on the side of his neck, finding his pulse to be fairly slow.
Confused at first. How is his pulse slow when he just got a jab to the nose? I search his body, looking for any sort of scratch or cuts. I tilt his head up, checking through his soft brown hair, pulling up his sleeves and pant legs to see everything normal. Until I lift up his shirt.
Patches of fresh black and blue mark forming on his pale tender skin, and a huge gash on his stomach, matching the line of his ab. My classmates came back, their eyes widening at the injurie on Jacks stomach, and the dark blood caressing my palms.
The pass me the towels, I start applying slight pressure on the length of the cut, stopping anymore blood from trickling loose. Pushing back his hair gently, letting the other students lay a cold rag across his heated forehead.
Footsteps clanking down the bare halls, professor Sprout, Pomfrey, and a few other nurses making their way to the bleeding body bunched on the floor. "Keep the pressure on his stomach, I don't know how much more blood he can lose." I was in a panic, I wanted to do all I could to help, but I don't know if I was hurting him in the process.
We weren't friends, that's for sure! But no body deserves to go through that.
They lift him off the floor, placing him on a stretcher and wheeling him to the hospital wing. I gaze down, seeing the thick red blood spread on the floor, and peeking on my hands. I hadn't realized how much blood there was until I stood up. I can't help but to begin to feel nauseous, my stomach hallowed, and my head dizzy.
I tremble to the exit, pushing through the door and running into the girls bathroom, the foul odder of the slaughter following closely behind me. I open the stall, barely making it in before crashing to the floor and throwing up in the toilet.
The gross taste lingering in my mouth, the uncomfortable feeling of choking making me throw up more. Every ounce of my body tensed up, kneeling on the uncomfortable cold floor, throwing up in a toilet. What a great way to start the year!
My head was spinning as I sit down against the side if the stall. Footsteps approaching near the door, but my stomach was too churned for me to care, nor for me to get up. I was startled, but not entirely surprised when the door swung open right beside me, making me look up, meeting those gray eyes I so frequently get lost in.
"Why'd you help him?"
"Why wouldn't I? I'm not like you Malfoy, I actually have this thing called a heart." I gush, fairly sarcastically, giving him a annoyed smirk. He doesn't say anything. He just stares at me, looking at my condition, making me feel ever so vulnerable under his gaze.
It's easy with him. He doesn't need to talk to you for you to understand what he is thinking, or trying to say. He can give you an eyebrow lift, a eye squint, a scuff, or even the tiniest bit of a smile to understand all of his wishes.
I looked away, I can't deal with him and his "looks" right now. Trying to push myself up from the ground, but becoming light headed and failing.
