"Was it true?"
Your POV
I wanted to eat in the great hall, but I was nervous. I couldn't face everyone, I couldn't even face Draco. Not now at least, it was too soon.
Though I didn't want to seem weak, make it look like I was hiding from my problems. "I'll be right next to you the whole time." Cedric says grabbing my hand.
"And you are always welcome at the Gryffindor table." Jack adds.
I swung my head low, agreeing quietly and exiting my dorm with Cedric still in my grip.
We approach the big doors of the great hall. The air crisp and cold, making the hairs on the back of my neck stick up. I had an uneasy feeling of swarming in my stomach, nervous and scared on what the future upholds.
Creaking hinges rub and the doors push forward, some heads of the students turn, while the others continue there dinner and conversation.
The burning sensation occurs on my cheeks, my skin turning red and hot with embarrassment, as I stepped slowly with my head down. That was until
a group of three, trio, you may call. Caught my attention. They were waving at me, mouthing the words sorry and are you ok, to me. Though my reply was quite lowkey, a simple nod.
"I'll catch you after dinner, Black." Jacks whispers, his hot breath caressing the side of my face.
Yet again nodding, frightened to open my mouth. Scared to unlatch my lips, let words dribble out like a basketball. To form a sentence full of absolute stupidity to get myself into a bigger fuss.
Weird to see that nobody was truly paying attention to me though. Maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought. Sitting down where the yellow group meets, putting a small piece of pinkish-brown meat on the designed and detailed white glass plates.
"That can't be all." Cedric huffed as soon as he caught a glimpse of my plate. "Why does what I consume, concern you?"
He yanks the food away from me for a response. Putting a spoonful of smooth applesauce, lumpy watered down green beans, and a bunch of delicious smelling gravy. "You will sit here and finish this, and I will stay by you. Even if we are the last two people in the clustered hall. For Merlin's sake, I'll stay here with you until morning if I have to."
He face soft, yet his voice serious. He was a master at persuasion, making you want to do what he has to say. Not to get confused with being manipulative, that's the last thing he is.
But the way he uses his vocabulary, the way he emphasizes his sentence to make you see the reason, it really makes you want to do what he has proposed.
I guess you can suggest "manipulator" if he uses his words of wisdom incorrectly. But Cedric wouldn't put someone's mind through that. The feeling of being used, unwanted, unworthy. He's the type to give, not take.
I stabbed the meat with the tiny spear I held weaved in between my fingers, bringing it up to my face. "I'll eat." I mumble into the fork, pushing the food past my sealed lips.
The widest smile grew over his face, the face of victory and accomplishment awarded his ego. Letting him feel the goodness inside of him jitter, by fulfilling this "deed".
