51. he saved
After a warm bath, hot chocolate and a couple of hours nap, Rae felt a bit more energetic and the stress reducing gradually.
The first thing she did was call the VET and ask about Mika, and she was informed that he was still asleep and would wake up later in the afternoon when she could visit him.
Momo, whom she was very thankful for, readied her bath, helped her eat something lighter and then occasionally threw in few warm hugs and comforting smiles which she needed desperately.
However James was nowhere to be seen.
The room she was in was James's guest room, and it was as bigger as her room back in LA. The room was airy, bright with yellow pastel colors and had a view to just marvel upon. A lake nearby was glistening with the sunrays as Rae smiled upon the comfort of the room.
The apartment was huge, from what Momo told her, it was a four room apartment and James occupied one right at the end of the hallway. Mostly the other rooms were never occupied and except the cleaning lady, no one entered them.
She liked the house, but the idea of living in it alone scared her.
'Oh wow, you look cute in these Bubba.' Momo cheered the girl as she entered the kitchen.
Rae had no clothes to change into and Momo had offered her James's clothes, a long sleeves t-shirt that dropped down to her thighs, a baggy huge pant and she looked like a floating ghost in those clothes.
But leave it to Momo to compliment her.
'You sure, James wouldn't mind?' She asked, as Momo tsked like it was nothing.
'He wouldn't sweetie.' She beamed at the girl who tugged on her sleeves.
The woody scent was now on her, literally. She wasn't even trying to get it off her sense, James was now instilled in her mind, her heart and she was for surely captivated. The scent only comforted her, it was like he was hugging her, holding her.
Something she missed desperately.
'Um... ma'am...' She said, hesitantly.
'Ma'am?' Momo eyed her, her hands over her waist as Rae gulped. 'Don't pull a James, sweetie. You can call me Momo.'
Rae chuckled, nodding as she helped herself with a glass of water while Momo cooked the food. 'Momo? Where's James?'
'Oh that man and his never ending work, I tell you.' Momo complained, making Rae smile at her expressions. 'He needs a girl, he does. Someone that'll make him come home everyday and get off his laptop.' Momo continued to rant about James as Rae heard her, with her heart only warming up. 'And he never eats properly, never sleeps properly. That man acts just like a teenager at times.' She went on and Rae sat down at the window, not wanting to be alone and watching Momo cook food and still rant.
Momo was sweet motherly figure, her brown hair was tied in a bun and she was a bit taller than Rae. She had a different accent, more southern, and she seemed to know so much about James.
'Do you know James very well, Bubba?' She enquired suddenly, and Rae didn't know if kissing him twice counted as very well, so she shook her head.
'Just a little.'
'Just a little?' Momo repeated and smiled at her. 'Then he must come to you as a rude snob, didn't he.'
Rae chuckled, nodding. 'At the start, yes.'
Momo laughed, shaking her head. 'My James, he's just that way. A rude snob when you don't know him and when you do, he's just the nicest man in these days.' Momo spoke so highly about him that Rae couldn't help but feel so happy about the duo and whatever relationship they shared. 'And it's so hard to find good and nice men these days. Isn't it?'
'It is.'
'And James, he's the nicest man. Ain't he?'
'The best.'
Momo appreciated Rae's words, smiling now and continued her rants, Rae listening intently to the kind woman. There was something about Momo which was so close to home for her. She was just like a mother to James, and she reminded her of her mother back home.
'How do you know James?' She asked, and Rae straightened up.
'He's the brother of my best friend.'
The mention of Sykkuno made Momo look at Rae with a little more admiration and curiosity. 'You know Thomas? James's twin?'
'Yes. Yes I do.' Rae nodded, smiling back. 'We work together. He's my best friend.'
'How is he?' Momo asked, a sweet smile on her face. 'James always speaks so much about him. I see him in the internet, he looks like a boy who needs Momos hugs, I tell you.'
Rae laughed, 'Yes he does. In fact, everyone needs Momo's hugs.' She teased the lady who eyed her with a grin.
'Are you working on the internet too? Like Thomas?' She enquired about her work, her home, and few other questions which Rae answered honestly.
'And boyfriend?' Momo asked, they were now sipping coffee together at the dining table. When Rae shook her head, Momo gasped, because she couldn't believe a pretty girl like her didn't have a guy.
'Don't worry, you're so beautiful, you don't need no man.'
Rae was falling in love with Momo, the more the woman spoke, the more Rae wanted to just listen to her sweet voice.
'You know James since?' She asked, curiously.
'James?' Momo nodded, a faint ghostly smile etching on her face. 'It has been two years now. Don't tell him, I told you, but James is more than my own son could be. He saved me, my life.' Tears stung in the woman's eyes as Rae waited. 'I was a homeless person, camping right outside his office. While the corporation wanted to shoo me away, I told them to help me with a job you know, to sustain myself. My son had abandoned me and my grandson, and I had nothing. Only James heard me, told me he'd get me a job at a restaurant because I told him I could cook.' Few tears fell on the table as Rae sighed.
Why did he have to be so nice.
'I am what I am because of him. I often cook for him because he told me he always eats from outside. Sometimes I sneak in the house so he can get home-cooked food.' Momo wiped her tears, and smiled at Rae. 'I wish that man gets whatever he wants.'
Rae nodded and Momo took both their mugs and headed towards the kitchen, as Rae sat back.
No one would speak so highly about anyone unless either it's true or they're being paid. And looking at Momo, she knew it was all true.
All this while she thought she was rejecting James, something she did on her own accord. But now she knew that she didn't deserve a man as him.
She didn't.
Even though she may have now fallen for him.
And his comforting smell, his warmth and his messy hair, his sweet smile, his soulful voice and those heavenly kisses kept replaying in her mind.
'Please tell me Rae, that you're not feeling for him.' She told herself, shaking her head, refusing to accept but when the door opened and she saw James, her heart leaped in joy.
She felt so happy seeing him right in front of her, and a part of her mind that wanted him was now in peace.
That's when she knew she was feeling for him.
Because who wouldn't.

Also, I would never kill Mika. I'd kill James before I kill Mika.

Anyway, Rae's voice is so beautiful in the song. Aaaahhh.... ♥️
Video: Rae losing it.
P.s. I don't know how to end this. Good or bad. Argh.
